Planning Ahead, Getting Organized

The above picture of the bathroom with the grab bars tickles my funny bone. Andy insisted we plan ahead, that we might need them in a couple of years because of our age. I, however, can’t help thinking that in order to get up there Andy often has to move rocks and fallen trees off the road and clean out culverts so the rain won’t wash the roads out. If he really needs grab bars would he be able to keep the roads open? Anyway, he’s happy with his decision and I’m happy when he’s happy. I am curious to see how it goes. 🙂

In the meantime we’ve got plenty to do. He’s starting to break in the new wood stove and is also replacing a lot of the tools that burned up in the fire (June, 2011). He can finally start doing that because he now has room for them in the shed. When the cottage is finished and we can start using it we’ll also buy some furniture for that. That means we’re going through our list of insurance losses and doing a lot of paperwork.

In the meantime down here I’ve been reorganizing my study and working on Christmas presents. I’ve already bought most of them and have a lot of them wrapped. I should finish them in the next couple of days.

What about you? Do you ever do things ridiculously early?

Jean loves her time at the computer. She Christmas shops at Amazon which is fun. (I’m guessing here.) That’s why it’s done early. The rest of us go to the city to shop for Christmas. Not I though. We don’t do Christmas anymore; lights, tree, presents. We buy what we want ALL year & send checks to the “kids”. Christmas morning is like every other morning unfortunately. But without kids at home it was never the same anyway. 🙁 Sorry Jean. I’ll put on a happy face. 🙂 😀

    Mike,
It varies for me too. I go to the Y almost every other day, and I often procrastinate for hours but I do get there. If it’s a bigger project I put it on my possibility list way ahead of time and tend to do it earlier than I really need to. I don’t like it hanging over my head.

    bikehikebabe,
I agree that it’s a lot more fun to order things on the computer than to traipse around in stores.

    Unhappy faces are allowed too!

I had installed grab bars for my father and now that I have shifted back to that room, I find that they are very likely to come in handy in the future for me too. I use one of them in the shower stall to hold on to with one hand and to use the other hand to pick up dropped cake of soap!

    Rummuser,
Yes, I can see how those grab bars could come in handy. Thanks for the suggestion.
