I don’t have any recollections of good teachers in school except at the very junior level. I thought very highly of the Principal of the High School that I went to, but he did not teach any class. Since I did not go to a college but got my Bachelor’s Degree through a Distance Education system, I had to wait till Business School to find a Teacher that I could really respect and revere. I have blogged about him and in my Alumni Association local chapter, I can find literally hundreds who think about him the same way as I do. I have also blogged about the Principal of my High School. Yes, good teachers make a great deal of difference in young lives.

  2. I’ve been away from my computer for a couple of weeks, so imagine my delight when I opened your latest post and found this! What a great way to start my weekend! Thanks, Monk!

I had two memorable teachers: Miss Reader in 5th grade and Miss Westby for high school senior English.

mr mc vey taught me to set my mental alarm clock.
I was a senior in his high school English class.
I have never set a regular alarm clock since that year.
it has always served me well. years and years of waking just a few minutes before the appointed time. it’s incredible but it works.
and so much nicer than being jarred awake by a loud noise!
I loved the story of norman.

That’s great about the alarm clock, and Norman is my hero. There was no pig in Cinderella? There is now. Pigs don’t bark? This one does. What freedom he encourages in us. 🙂

    You gotta love Norman 🙂

I don’t have too many nice teachers in my compulsory education years – later at University I did have a few stand-outs. These last ones, though weren’t the folk who could mold-me rather they were additional extras because I wasn’t in their mainstream programs…

Now, I am learning and working at making art at my own pace, with a great mentor who does help, although sometimes the “push” annoys me. Because “so what it I could do more with xyz…” who says “I want to” :-)
