As Power Lines Are Burning the West points out, it’s not just tossed cigarettes and abandoned campfires that cause wildfires.
That article brings back memories. Our 2011 fire was started by a fluke accident — high winds toppled a tree that fell through a gap in other trees and broke a power line. The resulting fire burned 43,000 acres, including ours, the first day.
Here are two pictures of our land going up in smoke. Andy took them as he headed for home.

The greenery is from the bushes and aspens that have grown back — it will be interesting to see how they survive the drought and fire danger. We’re in the “exceptional drought” zone.

Thanks for sharing those photos!
My fingers and toes are crossed!
Thank you!

Thank you.
Great photographs. All the best to both of you that the season passes without any fires.
Thank you.
It’s wonderful how the greenery gradually comes back again. I hope you stay safe and escape any more fires.
Thank you. The greenery is after seven years, of course.
