Our land is less depressing now that the debris has been removed and some of the dead trees have been cut down. Our new saying is
When all the trees burn up we might as well enjoy the view.

Our skies can’t be beat even now. The fluffy cloud formation is SPECTACULAR against the blue sky & never the same look, of course. 🙂
We’ve been here for 55 years. The sky was vivid, bright-bright blue for many years after that, but pollution from the power plant at 4 corners started covering the skies. Gradually the sky got a lighter blue.
bikehikebabe,
The sky was still that spectacular clear bright blue when we arrived here. I still miss it, even more than the trees.
that is an excellent solution to the current problem/s you have Jean. May you enjoy watching the new growth resprout as and when that occurs. Keep taking pictures to remind yourself of the progress of the regreening…
Or as the zen poem has it
My barns having burnt to the ground
I can now see the moon more clearly
I hope that there will be plenty of new growth lurking under the snows this winter — Mike (currently near Carlsbad.) 😉
Cathy,
That was one reason for not giving up on the place–to watch the regeneration. Another big reason is it would have taken a couple of years to decide where to move to, and Andy is a lot happier when he has projects to work on.
Evan,
I thought of that poem too. I love it.
Mike,
We’re betting the area will green up some. On the other hand the recent snow has melted and the forecast is apparently an even drier winter than the last one. That’s unfortunate for the plant life, but it may mean we can at least get Andy’s shed built before we’re snowed out. We still don’t have the permits, but we’re getting closer.
