Imminent?

The main thing that has happened up on the land recently is Andy has been clearing out dead trees and cutting them into pieces. The hope is if the workmen ever come back they will haul them away for firewood.

When people ask Andy how it is going he says, “It’s imminent. And it has been for the past six weeks.” Even he is starting to get impatient. We’ve now lost six weeks of great weather and passable roads. The story has been the contractor is working on getting quotes, but now Andy is ready to start pushing a bit. We’ll have to see how it goes.

In the meantime we received an email from the kitchen designer saying the prices for the cabinets will go up 2% on June 1st. She now has a new supplier for the counter tops and doesn’t think the prices will change that much–she will check when we’re ready to sign a contract. I’m not sure how we can get a firm bid from the contractor without little pieces of information like that, but to quote one of our favorite sayings, “They didn’t ask me.” I’m staying out of it. I’ve got enough to do learning how to use new techniques in Photoshop. It’s more fun than waiting for other people.

Is there anything imminent in your life right now?

Thanks to Evan and Rummuser for commenting on last week’s post.

Just classes to get ready for…

  2. Evan says:

Imminent is a renovation so we have more room. Meant to start this weekend, we’ll see.

  3. Jean says:

    Mike,
That’s right. You did say May.

    Evan,
Good luck. I’d be amazed if it goes as slowly as our project. 🙂

  4. Cathy in NZ says:

imminent…coursework assignments – one to be sorted out for Monday; a bigger essay and a littler essay in the next few weeks!

a few other minor, no not minor but regular things in my life and of course, if the weather stays nice this w/end run my gorgeous little electronic mower over the lawn (one of my new fav hobbies!)

Catching the little ^@*&# squirrel that takes down all our apricots to take the seed (for storage) before apricots are ripe. I see one eating the very start of the apricot. I did not know that.

  6. Cathy in NZ says:

bhb: cheeky buggers…those critters seem to be…a friend elsewhere in the States had problems with seeds for birds, I can’t remember what he did in the end!

all: we don’t that critter here in NZ, not even in zoos as far as I’m aware…maybe they are seen as escape artists and not warranted to keep in such a place 🙂

  7. Beate says:

We are shopping like mad for our little cabin and will try to actually live there this summer, starting in about two weeks. Sooo much to do…

  8. Evan says:

We don’t have squirrels (or rabies) in Oz, don’t know about NZ Cathy.

Hope the shopping goes well Beate
. One of my least favourite activities. If I could do all shopping online I would.

  9. Cathy in NZ says:

I don’t think there are many (if any) cases of rabies here but the minute I seem to say these “little used things” they pop up somehow…in the news!

  10. Jean says:

    Cathy,
You certainly have a lot to do! No dull moments there, it sounds like. 🙂

    bikehikebabe,
Did you manage to get the trap from Animal Control? At least it’s better to have problems with a squirrel than with a bear.

    Beate,
Good luck! I’m like Evan. I prefer to do my shopping online whenever possible. The UPS guy loves us.

  11. Rummuser says:

Many things have been imminent for many years for me! I sure do not want to list all of them here. I sure hope for one imminent and that is to be free of my responsibility that is obsessing me.

  12. Jean says:

    Rummuser,
That situation can’t go on forever. Good luck. Thanks for keeping us up to date.
