Road Closed

Andy didn’t go up to the land yesterday because his usual route up there was closed, and the alternate route would have taken between two and three hours each way.

The road was closed because of a one-vehicle accident in the morning, and it didn’t reopen until about 6:30 last night. The accident was serious— the driver died — and because it was a commercial vehicle (truck?), the Department of Transportation had to investigate it. Presumably the investigator had to come from Santa Fe.

That’s too bad about the driver. There are some sharp curves on the road coming down from the mountains, so accidents do happen there.

On a different note, here’s a video of a dog trying to show a baby how he’s supposed to jump in his swing:

The dog doesn’t give a rat’s ass (apology for the expression) about the baby. He’s fascinated with the shadow.

About the accident. I know that curve near the bottom. I had a load of rock & it was ALL I COULD DO from going off the road at that point.

Also about that curvy road. I was coming down it on my bicycle. A lot of braking on the curves. A long-legged marathon runner, training for the Olympics, was just ahead of me & he beat me to the bottom.

The interesting thing (if true) is the truck was empty. The story Andy heard is the driver took a load of fill up to Graduation Flats and was coming back. He was only 22.

We agree about the dog, but it’s still cute.

    cute dog show…

road accidents here are always investigated for what seems like hours…just this week a fatal accident on an off-ramp on the S/Western motorway caused a grid lock at evening rush hour…with the advent of video reporting we were soon to see the results. I read today there may have been another vehicle that caused it, because there were traffic cameras in the area.

I think the video was cute, too. I’m afraid I’m more attracted to dogs than to babies.

Traffic cameras do come in handy at times. It’s nice to find out what happened.

One of our mountain roads claimed at least 4 lives this summer/autumn. It makes me so sad – it tends to be young men who haven’t yet learned caution.

Great clip with the dog and the baby.
