Sammy is wearing the cone because he has a sore on his paw that isn’t healing. He’s still cheerful, but we humans are more concerned. The vet said it might be a mast cell tumor, which would mean surgery even if it hadn’t spread. He’s 13 years old and went into cardiac arrest last May before his surgery for laryngeal paralysis. But at the time he was the star of the ER because he was one of the rare dogs they had ever resuscitated, and the vet said one of the dangers of surgery was he was so gorgeous and cute he might get spoiled rotten. So fingers crossed that the wound heals with just antibiotics.

oh no. I cannot even imagine bad news about Sammy.
we will SEE him getting well… the antibiotics working. healing completely.
bless him.
I agree, we do love that boy!
Best wishes to Sammy. He has that patient (!) look I like in dogs.
Try and get a cat to tolerate one of those cone collars. They will fight tooth and nail to get out of it. If there is one thing driving me to minor despair with animals it’s that you can’t reason with them. You only want to help yet they make you feel … I don’t know. Inadequate?
Other than that: Never approach an unsuspecting horse (or a cow) from behind.

He doesn’t just look patient, he looks happy. He does smile a lot, which warms our heart given his health problems.
All the best to Sammy.
Thanks.
Hope Sammy heals. I know he will have the best of care!
Thank you.
I’m doing as Tammy said, I’m imagining him healed and well.
Yep, I’m willing the antibiotics to be all that he needs.
I so wish that dogs would age slower. Totally not fair.
But yes! positive thoughts!
XOXOX to Sammy!
Thanks. I will pass that on. 🙂
Best get well wishes Sammy…
Thank you.
