When people talk about common sense, it usually turns out to be knee-jerk responses or the first whacky thought that came into their head. Common sense will never be equal to thoughtful analysis based on solid evidence. Eating chocolate doughnuts on the sofa is something else again – the “what the hell, why not” approach.
commonsense got to me early last week…there had been a strange smell (not nasty, just different) each evening in the my living room – “commonsense: said it had to be one of the floor rugs that I had in the old house, that hadn’t been aired properly when I came from that dreadful place”
so I moved all the furniture, took up what I thought was the rug that was the likely candidate (read: not really aired properly) and had it earmarked to leave the house until next summer (read: put in shed)
but the smell continued…
well it’s not the “rugs or the new2me furniture at all” – it’s a very nice naturally scented candle which during the day is warmed by the sun and then when I sit near later gives of a scent! Said candle is now temporarily in the linen closet
now I have to rejig the living room again to replace the rug I moved!
I have plenty of extraordinary sense, thank you.
It is more fun. 🙂
They make a good point!

LOLOL! ya gotta love grampa.

One thing we’ve learned from physics — common sense is often wrong. Relativity and quantum mechanics still boggles people’s minds.

I’m sorry you had to go through so much to find the problem, but it makes a great story. Thank you!
