I wonder if the Kardashians are responsible for the Selfie Invasion?
I don’t remember them much before they came onto the scene.
of course given the new technology of people carrying a readymade camera everywhere with them… it wouldn’t matter who started it I guess.
and some of those pictures have been a great thing in terms of rescue or such. an interesting phenomenon for sure!
when I was on the bus the other day, a guy reached into his bag for something – and then next thing I know he’s got his phone on his selfie stick and taking a picture of himself and something in the background (might have even been the interior of the bus)!
tourists use them a lot – you see them particularly in front of old buildings that have some sort of historic plaque or similar. Or they might be on the ferry – lots of ways to use it…
but then you still see people asking other people to get a photo of them, and show them which button to press…
It is no longer just a cartoonist’s idea of a modern phenomenon.

I think it’s more the new technology. As Cathy says below, selfie sticks make it so easy.

That’s cool! I’ve never seen one in action.
