Busy Day!

We left at 9:30 a.m.to go to Andy’s eye doctor in Santa Fe and got home about 2 p.m. We were there for 2 1/2 hours because in addition to scanning his eyes they decided to inject his left eye today. We will go back next week for a shot in his right eye. The not-so-bad news is they’re now spacing his left eye every five weeks and the right one every seven weeks. That’s better than monthly shots. Fingers crossed!

Then I spent some time this afternoon dealing with a line in the policies for our automobile insurance. They say the rates are partially based on our credit report and,

The premium associated with the use of credit is more than the lowest available rate.

I phoned about that and the gal tried to come up with an explanation, but basically she didn’t know. Our credit rating is good and they charged us less this year than last year, so it’s not a big deal.

I did look into our credit score last night and it’s good because we’re been using credit cards for 39 years now, we pay them off every month, and we use only about 5% of our available credit. One thing is pulling our score down, though:

Credit mix lacks different types of credit

There is either no recent activity or insufficient information about your installment loans. Having a loan along with other types of credit demonstrates that you are able to manage a variety of credit types.

We are not about to go into debt to improve our score!

I also talked to the insurance gal about the insurance for the house. The policy says it’s only insured if it’s our primary residence but we sleep down here, so I wanted a piece of paper verifying that the insurance covers us. She says she will be gone the rest of the week but will work on it then. I sympathize with her, and the local office has been very decent to us, but we don’t trust the corporate lawyers. We want something in writing saying if we pay we are covered.

Anyway, enough for one day! I hope yours was great.

    oh for goodness sake!
I had no idea if you simply use your credit card and pay off the amount each month that it’s not counted as good credit? because your credit is not diversified? but I don’t own a house! or any other credit. and I don’t want any!
and like you. I’m NOT going to make credit just to have good credit!
I thought I already did because I pay if off whenever I charge anything!!!
it’s all so confusingly weird now! LOL! good grief Charlie Brown.
and the thought of a SHOT in his eye.
it staggers my mind. there’s no way I can wrap my head around that.
even if they numb it first! OH MY.

Our credit score is still high, usually excellent, but it is crazy that people get dinged for not having long-term debt. As I recall Andy’s mother had to take out a loan and make payments before she could get a credit card. She was reasonably well off but she didn’t have a job.

I asked Andy about the shots. He says they numb it and it hurts a little when they puncture the surface, but then there’s no pain. The surface is rough until the next morning and he’s aware of it when he blinks, like when there’s a bit of dirt in the eye. We have lubricant eye drops that help.

You had a productive day. I too had my usual Tuesday but had to cancel a Matinee film show because Manjiree had to go to her sister’s place to help in a family matter. Will catch up on Thursday.

We use credit cards and pay them off every month. Their rewards program is kind of like reverse interest in that we get a nice sum back periodically, usually around Christmas.

We’ve got the same ding on our credit report.

Inviting you to go into debt to improve your credit rating is nuts.

My car insurance is regularly reduced when I query the amount. Clearly they’re just trying to sting people for as much as possible but if you complain they don’t want to lose you so they knock £50 or so off the bill.

  5. i’ve not been terribly busy at all over the last 5 or so days – but came home to some problems that I hadn’t quite expected but as both flats are affected, I felt it was time the lazy boys did some phoning instead of me…

electricity company turns of hot water heating – at times, especially with the latest event in Auckland (last week) big storm. Our overall power was still functioning when I left for my semi-vacation – but we don’t any have running hot water – although power to boil kettles…

I know that the older lad was home a few days, no power at his workplace, but I have noted that the side fence not at least removed and put the other bits of loose fence pieces…
