Some people romanticize nature, believing it would be idyllic if mankind didn’t mess things up. I never have, mainly because I’ve always identified with the prey, not the predator. With my bad eyes I would never have made it out of childhood.

I don’t romanticize it. I know it’s harsh and dangerous.
I know it’s the circle of life and it can be heartbreaking to experience but I definitely do NOT think we should be messing with it.
I’ll provide just one link to explain why I feel like this although there’s many reasons, and many links to watch.
And even with your bad eyes, I’m thinking with your smarts, you would have been ok.

Great video! Thank you. My sister-in-law calls deer “forest rats”. They can cause a lot of damage if something doesn’t keep them in check. .
Not sure why two question marks appeared in my comment, please disregard those. xo
I took them out. 🙂
I think we’re getting to see one particular specie evolve. and rather quickly now… due to their exposure and living with mankind. it’s fascinating. I wish I could live long enough to see where it will lead!
I love the last cartoon. 🙂
All sorts of critters, including coyotes, have learned to live in urban environments. Adapt or die.
This made me laugh: How Did a Coyote End Up on a Roof in New York City?
We have foxes coming into the suburbs now.
Foxes…….not native to Australia but brought here so the landed gentry could continue to hunt as they did back in ‘the old country….are now considered vermin. They hunt and kill native species as well as new born lambs (calves at time) so are not encouraged…..so like rabbits the only good fox is a dead one!
Seems strange because back in England many people leave food out in the winter so foxes will survive.
I looked them up and was amazed some of the red foxes can climb trees. Poor koalas! That’s sad.
Clicked post before adding these. Also got my words muddled. They are a pest not vermin

Thanks for the link. What a mess.
I recall “Wild Kingdom” it was on Sunday before Disney.
Coffee is on
I’ve never watched it, but i’ve heard it mentioned a lot.
I believe in Que sera sera! There is little I can do to influence matters and so why tie myself up in knots?
Yes,
It’s amazing that even with our growing population, we still have wild animals roaming around our cities. Deer, racoons, even cougars. They seen to come at night, so they generally stay out of the way of humans!
That’s why they are thriving.
our biggest problem is the type of small animal that has big “families” – rabbits and possums – I’ve talked about them before…they damage the green-world more than anything.
I guess the introduced deer do damage as well, but they are in the cities…
A couple of years ago the land up there was swarming with rabbits, but no longer. I’m guessing the coyotes are keeping them in check. We don’t seem to have problems with possums here, but we certainly do with mice and rabbits.
I’m always leaving “not” out of sentence…the deer are “not” in the cities… the only thing we have to counteract these animals is the “gun or the trap” depending on the size of the beast…
