Actually Red isn’t sawing the picnic table. I thought that too at first, but he’s sawing his father’s golf clubs to make them shorter.
This is possibly why Manjiree has used paving stones with grass growing in between them instead of a full lawn!

I think the ‘little Darling’ is sawing up his father’s golf clubs to use as markers. Dad will have to work hard to keep his cool!
I think he’s just making the clubs shorter. Otherwise what would they use?
