Weather

We had high winds a couple of nights last week, but amazingly enough Andy didn’t have to clear the roads of any trees. He did see one fall while he was driving, but not on him or the road, so we’re grateful.

Kaitlin, Torben and the pups have been having thunderstorms and a lot of rain. Their backyard is flooded, which hampers the pups’ play times, but as Kaitlin pointed out, the good news is Zoe isn’t afraid of thunder. That is a BIG plus. Hu-dad and Frankie over at The Thundering Herd wish that were true of Frankie.

We’re having our usual end-of-June hot spell.

Fahrenheit:

In the old days the weather was a lot nicer after about the first week in July, but with the increasing aridification of the Southwest, all bets are off. Life is one adjustment after another.

Update: Andy just got home and said it got up to 91F/33C up on the land today. A new record!

We’ve had heat here too, then storms so today was nice.
    84 degrees.
Tomorrow it’s supposed to get hot again and hit 100 on Friday/Saturday.
I swear I won’t complain though because it’s better than snow!
    😉

    looks like our days too.
but I wish our nights were still getting that cool. AC is running continually now.
the nights are hot and humid too.
but at least there IS A/C!!! I remember as a kid not having it.
and thanks for the link. glad to know there’s a name for it! 🙂

The living room is the only room we have an air conditioner, so we rely on fans at night. Mostly it’s all right, but we don’t sleep nearly as well when it gets this warm. It could be a lot worse, so no complaining.

    • Jean says:

PS You’re right about the humidity — it’s a lot worse where you are. It’s cloudy tonight and the humidity is only going to be 33%. We’re spoiled that way, but we still remember those hot, muggy summers in Ithaca when we had no air conditioning. Yuck!

And, I can’t figure how some people are still in the denial mode on climate change.

    • Jean says:

No doubt for the same reason a lot of people denied that cigarettes were “coffin nails.” People believe what they want to believe.

  4. well right now your “lows” are our highs – and I live in a northern part of the country where it’s supposedly warmer…in winter! (reminding people that it’s winter time here in New Zealand)

That’s one of the joys of blogging — remembering that seasons are reversed in the Southern Hemisphere. I have you in my Dark Sky app, and it looks as if your highs are actually a little lower than our lows. For some reason I enjoy comparing weather. A harmless hobby. 🙂

    • I did a quick look at the very bottom of the country – Invercargill – and there lows were of course much lower than mine, but you would expect that with the Sth Pole not far away…

We have had fog this morning, as we did yesterday – but yesterday it didn’t really fine up – whereas today had/has and I got some “boards spray painted in either glossy black or gun metal grey…”
