Non-Stop Attacks?

The Dry Bones Blog is drawn and written by Yaakov Kirschen in Israel — I subscribe to it to see a different viewpoint. Under this cartoon he writes,

I think that the non-stop media attacks on the President are going to give him a win in the upcoming mid-term elections.

It will be interesting to see if he’s correct about the midterms. If you are interested, here’s the New York Times article, Trump Engaged in Suspect Tax Schemes as He Reaped Riches From His Father, that points out Trump isn’t the self-made man he has always claimed, and here’s a Fox News interview about the piece. At least Kirschen isn’t saying it’s fake news, just that the Times is picking on the president. Again, the midterms will be interesting.

  1. I’m not going to read the articles – but the more your “name/business/etc” is in the news, the more it is “attached to peoples’ minds” – so that the time of whatever, memory surges up and that “name” is the best of the rest of the unknown (never came up in article, regularly)

We all know this when we decide to buy something – I know when I take a local survey about “brands” – and the question is “what brands do you know?” – then you know two – and the next question is “tick these other brands” and before you are all the ones you couldn’t “remember…

Yes, no need to read the articles, and you are right that brands want to be recognized so consumers will think of them first. Assuming the publicity is good, of course. 🙂

There are many many diehard Trump supporters out there who will never stop voting for him no matter how much shit he’s wading through. So I certainly wouldn’t count on a surge of support for the Democrats any time soon. Meanwhile I’m waiting to see what happens to Brett Kavanaugh….

I wish the POTUS, the American people and its democracy all the very best.

    • Jean says:

Unfortunately this is democracy in action. We’re not as plutocratic as you assumed — I read an article the other day that said the problem is the two parties are too weak. They used to get together behind closed doors and compromise to get the best deal they could for themselves. Now all sorts of groups are taking moral positions which don’t allow compromise. Years ago my best friend, a Political Science major who died 23 years ago, said the American government was more stable than governments in Europe because we only had two parties, so I thought of her when I read the article. Good government has always been a problem, Plato taught me that years ago.

I just read an article in the Wall Street Journal where some senators say they do work together on a lot of issues but the press doesn’t write about that. Controversy gets more attention. There’s probably some truth there!

    • yes it’s the “juicy news” that hits the headlines…apparently anything that appeals to our senses, be it a good or bad – thinking of the photos that appear…as well.

I wouldn’t be at all surprised to see the midterms give us more of the status quo though I’d like that to not be the case.

I think extremists views dictate the two major political party stances which is problematic for any compromises is part of the problem.
