Andy decided to stay down here today to rest his back, and Orlando phoned to make arrangements for plowing this weekend. But just before Andy was going to eat lunch Kris Luster, a friend in the construction business, phoned to tell Andy to meet him up there, that he would do some plowing. So Andy took off.
Andy didn’t get home until about 6:40 pm, but I wasn’t worried. I looked at the Garmin map and could see he wasn’t stuck — he on his way. When he got here he started to tell me about his adventures, including getting stuck at one point, but I told him Orlando had been calling so he’d better answer Orlando first.
It turns out that Orlando wanted to tell Andy that Kris had phoned — the Forest Service decided that today was the day they would lock the gate, so Kris couldn’t drive out. (He took the del Norte road, so presumably just walked home to phone.) Andy told Orlando to tell Kris he was coming, and drove back up, about another hour round trip.
More details tomorrow.

So they locked him in?!?!
Omg!
Yes, details please!
🙂
Yes About this time of year the Forest Service locks some of the gates. If someone is inside they are stuck unless they have a key or know someone who does. Kris doesn’t, Andy does.
The weird thing is they locked the gate to the road that isn’t used as much but didn’t to the one that most people do use. That’s why Andy didn’t encounter a locked gate but Kris did.
OH GOOD GRIEF!
I tell you … the wild wild west had no claims on rugged men!
you’ve got some pretty rugged types there yourself! xo
Yes, Andy says Orlando and Kris worry about him, as if he were decrepit. He says he’s slowing down, but he’s not in that bad shape! He’s only 83 (almost 84), not 93. 😀
agree with tammy and your reply…
here’s hoping that Andy gets to have a decent rest, so he can properly regale the saga/s to you…
Well that sure made for a long day for him.
Yes! He went off again this morning and hopefully can drive in.
