A Bit More Plowing

Andy got up there easily today — he didn’t need chains — and he plowed the road to smooth it out.

The reason he got stuck yesterday was he misunderstood Kris. Kris wanted him to wait until he made two passes, up and back, and Andy thought he was supposed follow him on the way up. The snow was too deep in spots for the Jeep even with chains on — it high-centered.

The clearance of Kris’s plow is about two feet, a lot higher than the clearance of Andy’s Jeep. The diameter of Kris’s tires are about 5′ and the snow on the left side of the road is about 4′ high. As Andy says, that plow is no toy!

Here are some pictures Andy took today:

  1. Andy’s first photo – looking down upon the land/forest – quite eerie, but also mysterious, a powerful land still not recovered…but snow will continue whatever the ground conditions are.

as you and Catherine say… and yet the amazing beauty of it still.
is this an unusual amount of snow for you in the winter? it will be good moisture for any young trees and plants coming along this spring I would think.

That sure is a lot of snow. I think it looks quite pretty in your pictures and yet when it lands in my front yard I don’t find it so beautiful…lol
We did get snow yesterday but not enough to even have to shovel

We have some rain coming in tomorrow with the possibility of it turning to snow. But Mom says we might be on the edge of the snow line and it could miss us altogether:( That makes her happy, but not us.

I can’t say I blame her. The highs have been above freezing the past few days, which means the snow is melting during the day and freezing at night. We have to be careful of slipping on ice. Not so nice!

Great picture of the plow. It looks powerful, and very capable of moving huge mounds of snow!

    Whoa!
    Too much snow for me.
We are supposed to get snow tonight.
