Apparently our official groundhog, Punxsutawney Phil, didn’t see his shadow on February 2nd, which predicts an early spring.
We won’t argue about that. We actually had a few sprinkles of rain last night — they melted a little snow and ice, and it didn’t refreeze. How neat is that?!
It’s quite a difference from a little over a month ago.
Any other signs of spring in the northern hemisphere?
PS I’m not saying we won’t get more snow, but by February down here it usually mostly melts in a few days. Up on the land we could still have problems.
February 4, 2019
we have Bradford pear ornamental trees here that are about to bloom!
but as always … it’s fool’s gold. 71 degrees this week and then to drop to 19 at night and then high temps of 31 and 29. the yo yo roller coaster that is spring begins! your pictures are just beautiful though! xo
Our springs are hard on trees too. Apricot trees especially. 🙁
We thought Spring had arrived yesterday with temps in the 60s, but a cold wind blew in today along with much colder temps. Mom wants Spring, we want snow:)
Woos – Lightning, Misty, and Timber
I sympathize with your mom, but if you have to put up with the heat in summer, I think you deserve some snow.
No spring here!
Waaaaaa
🙁
I know! 🙁
well down here in southern hemisphere – there doesn’t seem to be any sign of Autumn/Fall!
however the extra heat we had recently has subdued a little, at least at night (now hope I haven’t upset the night heat guy,…it’s mid arvo right now) – and the morning is a little less severe…
Fingers crossed for you. I wilt in the heat.
I should have known better the “night heat guy” was secretly reading my post! It’s sticky and hot…around 6pm, sweat was pouring down from my head…now it’s just sticky at nearly 9pm!
Yuck! That reminds me of summers in Ithaca. Fingers crossed it gets better.
The last couple days here have been in the 50’s after being single digit with wind chills in the negatives. I won’t expect too much though, it’s way too early in the year for it to last.
I agree winter isn’t over, but our saying is, “The back of winter is broken.” In general, especially here, is if we get more storms they won’t last as long.
I’m starting to watch the weather in your neck of the woods too. Kaitlin and Torben are in the Chicago area and it looks as if they’re in for more yucky stuff. Fingers crossed!
