Springtime in the Rockies

I drove home from Silver Sneakers yesterday in a hailstorm. The hail accumulated on the ground, but started melting as soon as the storm passed. It did snow for a bit later in the afternoon.

Is that unusual? No. Sometimes March is dry and windy, sometimes we get precipitation. This is what it looked like last March 27:

We still remember our favorite weatherman about thirty years ago, when his forecast had been completely wrong,

One thing about the weather, it sure is unpredictable.

  1. We don’t get much hail around here. I can’t remember the last time I saw it. It hurts!

This didn’t dome down heavy until I was in the car, thank goodness. And even then the hailstones we’re too large. We do occasionally have some that does damage.

I just love that little video from last year! it seems relaxing to me hearing the swishing of the cars out on the highway and watching the light snow falling.
I always want it to go on longer! 😀

  3. I’m ready for some sunshine.
    Coffee is on

Winter just hates to let things go and allow spring to take over. It snowed a little bit here on Friday morning.

  5. You have to just love the “seasons” of early spring! They were reporting that we may be able to see the northern lights here, so I stayed up to look just in case. They were a no-show, but I’m glad I at least waited up, again, just in case.

  6. Although it’s not snow or hail here, our spring is often flipping back and forwards to winter…hard to know what to wear!
Of course now it’s officially Autumn but it really hasn’t come to fore, very little turning off leaf color

Yes, it’s hard to plan ahead when the seasons are flipping back and forth. Unfortunately in other ways those times are often the best for traveling.
