Fitted Sheets II

Just for curiosity I did an internet search for videos on how to fold fitted sheets. There are a lot of options!

One article I looked at says learning to fold a fitted sheet is like learning to ride a bicycle. It’s complicated at first but once you’ve mastered it you do it automatically and never forget.

I don’t plan to buy fitted sheets just to check out the process.

  1. nope that’s not me – I would rather either not have them, put them back on the bed or biff them in my linen cupboard – I have much better things to do with my time…it’s a bit like “ironing” tea/dish cloths!
Of course, if you’ve a proper house person then by all means fold, iron, bake, etc daily…

Andy’s mother used to iron the sheets. When we were first married I mentioned ironed sheets to Andy, assuming he would say it’s a waste of time. Instead he said he thought it was a good idea — I decided he could live without it. 😀

I would watch the videos but I’ve already got my way of doing them so I’ll pass on that.

  3. I do mine like the first video. I honestly didn’t know you can still buy flat bed sheets. Who knew!

Mom has seen some of those ideas before, but she has her own solution. She just puts the sheets back on the bed as soon as they come out of the dryer:)

  5. interesting, sheet sets along with single flat are completely normal here…the only reason why I had/have a fitted is a gift one year, that also came with fitted, flat & 2 pillowslips… but also interesting is that not everyone has a dryer, I don’t – all my washing outdoors – either on the big rotary line or on my high standing portable…this 2nd one mainly in winter, so I can rotate and get stuff in quickly when weather turns to custard…oh, and I have a range of nails on the back porch uprights…

Yes, people assume we have access to dryers. It’s been years since I used a clothesline. Apparently a lot of home associations forbid clotheslines, and here in the apartments we’re not supposed to hang our clothes outside on our porches.

Have to admit I just scrunch them up any old how. I’d go bonkers trying to fold them the “correct” way, if we can even agree what that might be. My method is more like video four, but I spend a lot less time on it!
