Things Are Looking Up, as Long as You Hold Your Nose

Tempi is looking a lot better this morning — her vet says she is doing “awesome”.

There is still a little oxygen in the wrong place, but as Kaitlin wrote:

… her oxygen levels and all other vitals are 100%, so they are going to pull the remaining chest tube this afternoon and monitor her overnight. If she remains stable she can go home tomorrow morning!!!!! So, we are going to take the work hit and stay tonight. If something goes wrong (fingers crossed it doesn’t for our poor Zo-bug) we will go home tomorrow and come back over the weekend.

They do need to get back to work, but whether the people there will be glad to see them is another matter. When Kaitlin was in a large room with Zoe another woman came in and held her nose, asking who got skunked? That would be Tempi just before the drive up. Kaitlin’s smell was just second-hand.

Tempi wasn’t even allowed in to see Zoe because of the skunking. Tempi tells her story here.

It’s not just we old folks who have to have a sense of humor. I continue to be amazed at how good-natured Kaitlin and Torben are.

Oh boy, that is one of Mom’s biggest fears – trying to get skunk stink out of our thick coats. That is one experience she never wants to have. ON the other hand, we are delighted to hear the good news about Zoe.

For some reason Toren’s parents have a lot of trouble with skunks. Or maybe I should say Kaitlin and Torben’s dogs have trouble with skunks there. 😀 That’s why they had the smell remover handy.

I’ve heard tomato juice baths help. but it might be just a myth passed around by mean skunks. then they laugh their stinky tails off.
I’m so glad for Zoe and her family. life is never dull with that wonderful little group! wish they didn’t have to go right back to work.

I’m not sure what they use, but Kaitlin and Torben always bring something just in case. It’s better than nothing.

    That’s great news about Zoe.
No fun on getting rid of that skunk smell. We had a dog who got skunked and mixed up a shampoo of dawn dish soap and two other ingredients but I can’t remember what they were

(Ann’s right. Dawn, baking soda and hydrogen peroxide.)
I’m so so happy that Zoe is improving to the point that she can travel.
Thank goodness, that family has been through the wringer.
Torben and Kaitlin are truly amazing people.
Those pups hit the lottery having them as doggy parents.
I admire them so much, and I’ll continue to focus on Zoe getting back to 100%!
