I gave up the cake! LOL

  2. The meme is so true! It also saves having a bunch of germs blown all over the cake people then eat. LOL

  3. The OP Pack says:

Same here – who needs all those germs blown all over the cake – BOL!!!

As long as there is cake, who needs candles?

Woos – Lightning, Misty, and Timber

  4. I hadn’t thought of germs…considering how many cakes with candles I have been eating over my lifetime. What I hate is those never ending ones, where blow all you want, and they just relite – more germs than you could throw a stick at…
“traditional ideas, never cease to amaze me…we gotta do this/that, because we’ve always done it that way” but when someone older is told they must get with “technology” because that’s the way; it’s like double standards…

I haven’t had candles on my birthday cakes since I was a boy. And yes, I was also aware of the germ-spreading aspect. What’s the point of candles anyway? You light them and then blow them out again – why?

I think the candles are mostly for kids. In the past, at least, it made the day seem extra special. I’ve heard nowadays the parties can get spectacular, so maybe the candles don’t add as much now.
