Andy, Beate, and Tim’s walk yesterday along the ridge trail was strenuous. It was only 8 miles, but there was a lot of climbing, and the old trail has just about disappeared because of erosion, fallen trees, and being overgrown with new vegetation.
But they did get some good views.
Thank you, Beate, for the pictures. I’ll post a few more tomorrow — I’m still uploading a lot of them to Flickr.

wonderful view after the clambering over the vegetation…thanks for sharing
Bless Beate for the pictures.
Are all those dead trees from a fire and if so how long ago? And that is a wonderful view.
Yes, the fire started June 26, 2011. It burned 43,000 acres the first day.
It looks like very, very hard going!
Yes, not too shabby for an 84-year-old.
not sure altitude and age and rugged trails are always the best.
I’d stick to stable trails. but then I’m not in Andy’s shape!
the pictures are wonderful that Beate takes. they’re appreciated! 🙂
All of the trails around our land have been destroyed. There are some good ones in the Valles Caldera, but the main road to most of them was damaged by the spring runoff and it won’t be fixed until early next month.
That 8 mile hike must have been quite a workout. The view is spectacular though
Yes, it was very strenuous, but they recovered nicely.
