Being Cheerful

At eighty I believe I am a far more cheerful person than I was at twenty or thirty. I most definitely would not like to be a teenager again.
—Henry Miller

I won’t be 80 for several more months, but it’s close enough for me to say,

Amen to that!

What about you? Are you more or less cheerful now than when you were younger?

Sometimes, Jean. Sometimes, though, I feel that I won’t be able to do as much as I’d like to in a day—having less energy is not a cheery thing for me!

      As the saying goes,

Don’t bite off more than you can chew.

Unfortunately as we get older we can’t chew as fast and have to temper our ambitions. 😀

  2. Ann Thompson says:

I think I’m more cheerful now. I know I have a more positive attitude.

  3. sometimes, I want to just turn the clock back and do things a bit differently…

but when I have a day like yesterday “lost in the world of glue, tools and papers” I’m most happy; cheerful as well 🙂 and that was after I tore down to the village to get another printer cartridge and some groceries…and got a fortunate “just there bus” home.

today, I can see more similar play coming up as it’s damp and dull…

I once read a book about creativity entitled, “How Much Joy Can You Stand?” Getting in the flow state while creating something, what could be better?

  4. Linda says:

I’m more cheerful now. I’ve lived long enough to recognize the absurdities in life and to laugh at them.
