Why Do Salmon Cross the Road?

Why do salmon cross the road? In this area of Washington state it’s to swim upstream.

Ronni Bennett posted this video, suggested by Joan McMullen, one of Ronni’s readers.

A commenter on the YouTube page tells us there are signs on the road to warn people: “Danger, Drive Slowly & Carefully, Fish Crossing the Road”.

Thanks, Ronni and Joan.

    OHMYGOSH!!! for real? LOL.
poor salmon. they’re either beating themselves up trying to jump the falls and dodge the waiting hungry bears’ claws and jaws…
or they’re fighting traffic on a highway. it’s not good to be a salmon these days.

  2. Isn’t that just the weirdest and saddest thing!

Now that’s a sight we have never seen!!! Mom is switching our kibble from a turkey base to a salmon one for a change of diet – wonder if any of those salmon made their way to our kibble?

Well, that’s one way of deterring speeding motorists – put a bunch of salmon in their path!

  7. the solution to me is to build a bridge over that part of the road for the vehicles!

    amazing clip though…

It’s only for a short time and even if the money were available the delays caused by the construction would be even worse than what they have right now. There’s all sorts of road construction, detours, etc. going on in our little town right now, What a nuisance!
