Thanksgiving

Do you celebrate Thanksgiving – the fourth Thursday of November (U. S.), the second Monday of October (Canada), or…? Andy and I love our everyday life so we don’t do anything different. I’m essentially 80 and he’s almost 85, so we appreciate what we still have and don’t take it for granted. Hurray for giving thanks!

I hope you have a great day, whatever you do. πŸ™‚

We do celebrate…typically today, but we did it yesterday this year till our son-in-law could go visit his side of the family this year.

It’s easily shifted. Kaitlin and I used to cook a turkey with some fixings the day before Thanksgiving, then we would go up to the land on Thanksgiving day itself and come home for leftovers.

  2. The OP Pack says:

We celebrate here too. The grandkids and their parents all come over, Mom cooks all day, dinner is delicious and over in an hour, then we go back to peace and quiet:) But seriously it is fun to have a houseful of family.

    Happy Thanksgiving.

We feast. I don’t know why since SWMBO is an excellent cook and I make do with a few things. But we do. I’m ready for another piece of pumpkin pie.

I spent a cozy day just watching Hallmark Christmas movies on their channels.
it seemed to hit the spot. it’s been rainy all day off and on here. and to think in Denver and even our panhandle there was snow!
hope your Thanksgiving was wonderful. (kind of like everyday! πŸ™‚ XO)

  5. Cindi says:

I started the day caring for a diabetic dog who needs insulin at 5:30 am so had to be up at 5 to feed him. I’m watching him while his owners are out of town.
Then of course I had to run through my usual morning rituals with the rest of them. Then my niece called and she and her fiancΓ© took me out for breakfast.
Afterwards I came home and did something I never do! I slept! Then I got up and thought about it and laid back down and slept some more!
So I would say it was good day and that I had MUCH to be thankful for!
(And as always, I’m thankful for you!)

  6. there you all are on the other side of the world, still in Thursday…I’m now early evening on Friday. I never realised T/Ging was a set day in either the States or Canada, so thanks for that.

I might write about my own personal “thanks” about life in the weekend, I’m not sure at which point this last week it occurred but it did!

    • Jean says:

I’m looking forward to reading about it.

I looked up whether you celebrate Thanksgiving or another Harvest Festival in NZ, but found out you didn’t. Just one of the many things I never knew. πŸ™‚

  7. Ann Thompson says:

I wouldn’t necessarily call what I do celebrating but there is a big meal. Hope you had a great day

  8. Thanksgiving was a quiet affair at home for me and the dog. But I do love the concept and memories of past holiday parties with family.

    • Jean says:

That must be hard at times. We’ve never been close enough to our families to celebrate with them so ours have always been low-key.

  9. Linda Sand says:

We buy a precooked turkey breast for sandwiches and Dave makes a pumpkin pie. That works for the two of us since it gives us several meals. After all, what’s a Thanksgiving meal without leftovers? πŸ™‚
