Betty White turns 98 today. Two years ago when asked for advice she said,
Enjoy life.
Accentuate the positive, not the negative.
It sounds so trite, but a lot of people will pick out something to complain about, rather than say: “Hey, that was great!” Itβs not hard to find great stuff if you look.
Amen to that!
Of course when she was once asked what the secret to her longevity was she said,
Vodka and hot dogs, probably in that order.
I think I’ll pass on that one.
January 17, 2020
Happy Birthday Betty. I recently watched out takes from her show and she just cracked me up.
I could do the hot dogs but I would have to pass on the vodka.
Hot dogs aren’t supposed to be good for us either, but I think Betty may disprove that idea. π
It isn’t hard to find great stuff…but some days are easier than others, or more challenging. As my older neighbor used to say, ‘It’s a grand old life if you don’t weaken.’
Yes, some people talk a lot about the importance of hope. I think courage, persistence, and dedication are better things to work on.
LOL! she is what they call a national treasure I’m sure.
maybe its her sheer LOVE of animals that keeps her here. π
happy birthday dear Betty!
I vaguely remember watching one of her most earliest shows on tv.
it was very short but funny. I think it was ‘Life with Elizabeth.’
she was talking about a woodpecker bird drilling into the house. her husband said… “it can’t be. our house is stucco!”
I remember her saying “then it’s a stucco-pecker!”
for some reason in my little kid world I thought that was simply HILARIOUS!
That’s a neat memory! I wasn’t aware of her until a lot later in life.
I’ll pass on the vodka too but every so often I get a hunger for a hot dog.
We occasionally have hot dogs, but I wouldn’t want a steady diet of them.
well at “98” if it was hot dogs and vodka – she’s done them proud!
Yes, she’s a great advertisement. π
I’ve never in my life had a hot dog. I always wonder exactly what’s inside them. I’ve had a few drops of vodka, though I still prefer white wine.
She’s right about people who prefer to complain rather than appreciating all the good things in life.
Hot dogs were Kaitlin’s favorite foods when she was little, so we had them once a week when she turned 7. That was when she started cooking dinner on Sunday evenings, so we had hot dogs and corn. She loved doing it, and it was good experience for her.
She certainly has had a full and a life that has been well lived!
I’ll pass on the vodka and hotdogs…. I just had lunch! :-)!
π
Betty’s recipe sounds pretty good to me! π
