Our Cup Runneth Over

Our cup runneth over with things to celebrate. Today isn’t just Groundhog Day and Superbowl Sunday (for those who watch it — we no longer have TV service since they took down our antenna), but it’s also a Palindrome Day:

Today is a very special occasion — the date is a palindrome, meaning it is the same when read forwards and backwards.

It is February 2, 2020, or 02/02/2020, in both the MM/DD/YYYY format and the DD/MM/YYYY format. At just after 2 a.m., it was 02:02:20 on 02/02/2020.

This is the only time such a date will occur this century.

The previous palindrome date came 909 years ago on 11/11/1111.

I hadn’t noticed that! Is it important? I don’t care about the details, but it warms my heart and lifts my spirits when people celebrate the little things in life.

Happy Palindrome Day!

I had not noticed it either till someone else pointed it out…

One morning my old boss at the floral shop and greenhouse where I worked in the 60s woke up and noticed that date was the phone number of the shop. He called the radio station and offered a free plant to anyone who call and repeat the number. We crashed the phone service for the whole area and of course that made the nightly news. I didn’t think I’d ever forget the number but I have.

I read that somewhere about todays date. Pretty cool.

  4. a relative of mine, yesterday mentioned it – of course “yesterday was not your yesterday” ๐Ÿ™‚

Iโ€™m gradually getting better at remembering the time difference. I think itโ€™s a modern miracle we can connect via the internet. I love it!

    • of course, if I mentioned today, Thursday is Waitangi Day, you could celebrate it however you wish tomorrow (your Thursday). So what am I doing…well now, almost nothing (waiting for paint to dry) but earlier I was finishing the “little book of trees and leaves…”
However, that’s not what Waitangi Day is about…many government officials will be around the country at different events; some more peaceful than others, i.e. demonstrations about certain bad things…etc.

    • Jean says:

Yes, thanks to you Iโ€™ve heard of it, but I had forgotten the date. There are bound to be some demonstrations about the bad things that happened. We did a lot of them too in our history. ๐Ÿ™
