I mentioned before that our local paper comes three days a week: Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday. And that Wednesday they didn’t even put in the Sudoku puzzle, just the answers:
Well, they did it again Friday,
But yesterday they did it correctly, so one out of three is better than nothing.
March 1, 2020
maybe the real suduko composer is away on leave….
and next week the cryptic x-word answers will be the best they can do…
do you have a “dear editor” page…
I’m sure they get it from a syndicate of some sort. We used to have Letters to the Editor, but it appears very seldom now. I did write to them to tell them what happened and to say it reflects poorly on their paper.
I wonder if there has been a big upset/family trouble or someone sick and just not up to the job?
It could be, but it is one more indication that the paper is in trouble.
It’s a test. But seriously, I wonder if real people even do the lay outs anymore. Maybe it’s a software issue.
I’m sure people still do it. One Wednesday edition was really messed up a while back, and I talked to the editor about it. I can’t remember what she said the problem was, but they did the best they could to get anything out by the deadline. I talked to her about the lack of coverage and other regular problems and she insisted the print paper was much superior to the rival free internet paper. Her staff were professionals and the staff of the other paper weren’t. She didn’t seem to care that we got more information from her rival.
She has since moved on. As we are about to. 🙁
Maybe the papers editor was on vacation for the Wednesday and Friday edition. Glad they got it right this time
It’s not that important at this point, since we’re not going to renew. I do a lot of Sudoku on my iPad and Andy isn’t upset when the puzzle isn’t in the paper. Now it’s mostly funny.
the paper we know longer get, is out on the table at the YMCA, sometimes I speed read through it while waiting on hubby. they still to this day make horrid spelling errors and even horrid bold title errors
We occasionally get errors in the headlines, too. It’s sad.
