We’ll Have to See

Our neighbors (both male) downstairs by the stairs are often sitting on their porch when Andy comes home, and they’re interested to hear what he has done that day. Last week one of them asked if he could follow Andy up sometime and maybe help. Andy said sure, just let him know.

So yesterday Andy said the fellow and one of their friends (they often have a few friends over in the afternoon/evening) would like to come up tomorrow. Andy said fine.

So Andy and I had a brief conversation about social distancing. He thinks three or four feet is enough, which is probably all right outside. The conversation went approximately like this:

Me: Will you keep your social distance?

Andy: Sure.

Me: What about lunch?

Andy: They’ll bring theirs.

Me: I know that, where will you eat?

Andy: Probably outside at the picnic table.

Me: That’s not six feet apart.

Andy: Well, the table is six feet long.

It will probably be fine, but I think it’s a good idea to at least think about the topic.

We’ll have to see if they go, and if so what their reaction is to the drive and to the land.

You are wise to go through all the details – be prepared, right?

  2. I would suspect it’s going to turn out fine, but yep, thinking through logistics should happen, and has.

They are kind of in your bubble, because you see them almost daily now, anyway. It’s a bit like my neighbour in U2, we are usually only a metre apart and as it is he can’t truly get away from wherever my feet or my hand on the rails..have been on the steps!

I would imagine the guys will be impressed and just love the whole wilderness look and the expanse of what is there – spend a lot of time just staring into space….but also help with aspects. What is the saying a “silver lining in a cloud”…

It may not happen tomorrow, if at all. They may have to drive to Albuquerque to get a part for one of their cars. It still doesn’t hurt to think about it ahead of time.

I, too, think things will be fine. Do the guys work from home, or do they go out to work…just kind of wondered.

    • Jean says:

I’m not sure about one of them, but the downstairs neighbor only works on Mondays and Tuesdays because of the COVID-19 restrictions. It’s time to get out of the apartment and do something else for a break.

Look forward to hearing how it goes

Yes, you have to think about these things and not just assume everything’s going to be okay. I hope all goes well.

i have found over the years it never helps to ‘go over’ what is expected with my other half… hope all goes well…

*haha* Oh my… different ideas about social distancing, for sure. 🙂
