Still Working on It

Remember that high altitude jet we want for Andy’s brush cutter?

As I said, Friday I phoned the distributor in Dallas to find out how to get it. I talked to Torrie, and she said she would contact the factory and try to find the part number. She would phone me back, but probably not until Monday or Tuesday.

I didn’t hear from her, so I phoned again yesterday. She apologized, which was sweet, I thought, and I told her I appreciated her working on it. She said she would email them again and that I should phone back if I didn’t hear from her by noon today. She gave me her extension.

This morning before noon I received this email:

Good Morning,
I had a email from the factory but he is having issues finding the jet as well. We are working on it.

I hope the fellow can find the jet, but even if it doesn’t happen I’m grateful for Torrie working on this. Things are crazy right now, and human touches like this mean a lot.

Yes, it’s wonderful talking to a human instead of a robot, isn’t it, Jean. I hope you & Andy find the part you need. This may sound crazy but have you tried Amazon? It seems they have everything! Love, Andrea xoxo

I tried searching for “high-altitude jet” plus the model number of the carburetor, but I didn’t have any luck. The problem is the jet doesn’t have a part number. The impressive thing is because of the time Torrie is spending on it, her company won’t make any money if they do find the part and sell it to us. It’s just excellent customer service.

I wonder what their problem is? Hope they can find it soon!

  3. Service people and builders around here are all dealing with supply chain issue. We all need to develop more more patience. Glad you found someone who is working with you.

    • Jean says:

I’m extremely patient nowadays because I know they are swamped. I’m careful to express my appreciation when they do try to help.

I am still working on ‘things’ here…but glad you have someone that is trying to keep their word. That means so much to me, even if they haven’t solved the problem.

It is a rarity these days to find someone who will do what they say, so yes, it was nice of Torrie to at least try for you. We hope you can get that part.

Misty saw the surgeon tonight and she will have one knee repaired tomorrow. Thanks for your good thoughts for her.

just getting to talk with a real human is rare and wonderful anymore!
    I hope it works out.
you’ll have a friend in Torrie before it’s all over!

  7. I suspect there are a lot of supply issues, and maybe even “staff issues” so that the store-man of course isn’t usually in that department or similar. But at least people are “trying their best”

    • Jean says:

Apparently Walbro, the carburetor manufacturer, hasn’t assigned a part number to the jet so they can’t find it in their system.

  8. Ann Thompson says:

Who knew one little part could cause such an issue without ever making it to the trimmer.

    • Jean says:

I think not many people try to use the cutter at high altitudes so there’s not that much of a need for the jet.

It’s very refreshing when you get someone who doesn’t just plough through some laid-down procedure but acts like an intelligent human being and actually deals sensibly with your problem.

I love all things Tech but I do hate the way we have to deal with people now by emails instead of by people. The pool person that has installed our new pool pump yesterday to the tune of $563 was all by email and I hate sending the email and then waiting and then sending them waiting. Once I called and was told I would get the email. Do hope they find the jet but at least you know that they’re looking
