Mairsy Doats and Dozy Doats

Another song that spontaneously plays in my mind from time to time:

https://youtu.be/aFcx7phO_9E

Mairzy doats and dozy doats
And liddle lamzy divey
A kiddley divey too,
Wouldn’t you?

If the words sound queer and funny to your ear,
A little bit jumbled and jivey,
Sing “Mares eat oats and does eat oats
And little lambs eat ivy.”

I cheerfully admit, I do not have sophisticated tastes.

I remember this song well. Now it will stick in my head for quite awhile. I still don’t know what it means, but maybe the silliness is just part of the fun.

This proves you are right because both these songs are happy songs. When I get a song it’s like the first six to eight or 10 notes and nothing else no words just the music going round and round

  14. I remember that song, it’s really cute!
