National Chocolate Day

I didn’t know today was National Chocolate Day until I read about it at Just Breathe.

I don’t eat chocolate very often, but I’ve had all sorts of problems with the internet lately, so I didn’t write the post I had planned to…instead I went into the kitchen and had a piece of chocolate. Tomorrow is another day.

    Simple pleasures, indeed. 🙂

  3. I didn’t know it was National Chocolate day but I just had a sinfully rich chocolate cake at a restaurant.

  4. The OP Pack says:

I enjoy good chocolate. But I miss the days when our local department store had a candy case of the really good Russell Stover chocolates. I would pick orange creams in dark chocolate, and really rich dark chocolate pecan bark. The chocolate they make today is NOT the same. But I must say i did enjoy a handful of M & M caramel chocolate covered candies tonight:)

You did GOOD. I could never stop at just one piece!

  6. now that’s the spirit, CM – kick the messes of life right out the door – with CHOCOLATE

    • Jean says:

I kick the “messes of life right out the door” a lot, but mostly it’s by playing Sudoku or other puzzles. I’m good at tuning out what I don’t want to deal with…I just get my mind immersed in something else. 🙂

  7. Hootin' Anni says:

I kicked the habit of chocolate after my heart attack. Anything with caffeine is a no no. But, I will eat white chocolate with no caffeine. Only once in a blue moon. Hey? This month we HAVE a blue moon!

  8. Ann Thompson says:

I missed the celebration. I read about national chocolate day on Facebook but never did get around to having any

  9. Madsnapper says:

The only chocolate I get anymore is my cup of hot cocoa the sugar-free kind. Had to give up the chocolate although once in awhile I get the unsweetened dark chocolate and melt it and freeze it on some nuts just to get a taste of chocolate with no sugar

Karen keeps a small bowl of Dove dark chocolate pieces on a shelf above her computer table and has a few every day. She’s naturally thin, so it doesn’t hurt, though, as she’s aged, she’d gained a bit more than she’d like, though probably not due to the chocolate. Her specialist yesterday at a routine checkup asked her, though, about the ten pounds she had lost since January. He was satisfied with her reason — the new treadmill, twice a day and moderation at meals.

I “steal” a few pieces every now and then. They are great to nibble at with a cup of black, unsweetened coffee ( the only way I take it).

    • Jean says:

I gave up coffee years ago, and I would have trouble drinking it black now. I remember learning to tolerate it when I was a teenager.

That’s great about Karen and the treadmill. I have a non-motorized NordicTrack in my study and use it every day. It’s so convenient to use while I’m streaming a video.

  11. Rose says:

I keep chocolate by the computer, too. Have a little bit most days. I shouldn’t. I don’t go overboard with it, though.

  12. Bruce Taylor says:

Oh thank goodness. Now I can attack that Halloween candy! (again)

There’s nothing to compare with Lindt chocolate truffles. In my humble opinion, the chocolate gold standard.
