Christmas Lights

December 19 is the official day to have the Christmas lights go on up on the land, so we went up for a picnic supper.

The red light on the lower right didn’t come on, so Andy checked it Sunday. The bulb was fine, it just needed to be tightened.

I took more pictures and uploaded them to this Flickr album.

  1. wonderful photographs – thanks for sharing – the sunset out of the double windows in the cottage – magic.
As for the tomatoes – well what can I say – snow on the ground outside – tomato flowers and greenery indoors…

I was struck by how dry things are with the lack of snow, but it did feel magical up there. No wind at all, quiet and a deep feeling of peace.

    Looks good. A nice tradition

You two are blessed! I love tis whole idea. Like the STAR in the EAST!! But, I went out to Flickr but couldn’t get the slide show to show me the 34 images.

    • Jean says:

You couldn’t see them all? When I click on the link it shows me all 34 photos. If I click on one of them there are arrows to the left and right (except at the ends) that let you move through them one by one. I think I remember in the distant past there was an option for a slide show, but I haven’t seen that in a long time.

    • Jean says:

I looked it up. There’s a slide show icon at the top of the screen. In the following picture the arrow points to it.

I looked at the flicker pictures, and i love that home. do you ever stay there now? like for overnight or weekend? it is lovely and I would be very happy living in it. loved the views from the green house. glad the tree was a simple fix, still shuddering at the thought of climbing up there to tighten the bulb. when bob goes on the roof i stand on the ground with cell ready to punch 911

    • Jean says:

We don’t stay up there. Andy drives back and forth every day (except rarely when something comes up) in the Jeep, and when we go up for a picnic he comes home in the afternoon and we take a more comfortable car for the trip. I’ve given up worrying about Andy on the roof when no one is around. He’s very careful and he has the Garmin for the SOS.

Kaitlin, Tobrben and the pups stay up there when they come.

  5. Delightfullllll….

So glad the last light, just needed to be tightened. -smile-

    Beautiful!
Despite being the 7th grade rope-climbing champion, I’ve become like Sandra – mighty uncomfortable around ladders. Driving after dark in remote areas, too.
Thanks for showing us what good things happen when you push yourself!

    • Jean says:

I’ve always been afraid of heights, and even Kaitlin and Torben don’t go up on the roof when they’re here. Andy is the brave one. 🙂

Also, my eyes are bad so I don’t drive the dirt roads even when it’s light. Andy knows the roads well, of course, so has no trouble at night…except for driving more slowly in case we encounter deer or elk.

I wouldn’t say we push ourselves, we’re more pulled by projects that interest us. We both like challenges and learning new things.

great pics of Andy on Flickr!
and especially also like the little tree on the windowsill of the cabin in pictures of the land 29! it’s beautiful. xo

  8. The OP Pack says:

We bet that tree on the rooftop shines so brightly up there on the land. It is beautiful to see.

    • Jean says:

It’s fun to see it from across the valley as we drive home. We need the binoculars to separate the colors, but we can see that it’s not one big white light but has some colors in it.

  9. Rose says:

OH, I so enjoyed all the photos…one especially grabs my heart. How long does it take you to drive up there? I would probably want to go up there all the time. Love how the tomatoes are just growing all over the place.

    • Jean says:

It takes about an hour when it’s light, more when it’s dark because we can’t overdrive our headlights because of deer and elk.

    • Rose says:

I did not dream it was that far! I know an hour is not that bad…it is just I figured half an hour . Why I thought half an hour though, is more than I know.
