Carpe Diem

I bought one of these t-shirts a few years ago, and it still inspires me and warms my heart.

carpe diem — seize the day; enjoy the present instead of worrying

What about you? Have you carped this diem, or has the diem carped you?

I used to catastrophize all the time…before my heart attack. Niw, I try to make the mist of my day without worrying (too much).?

Years ago I read about a woman diagnosed with terminal cancer. She was upset at first, then realized she was worrying about all sorts of things that would never happen to her. So she focused on making the most of the time she had left. Then it turned out the doctor had made a mistake, she didn’t have cancer at all. Her first reaction was “Oh, now I have to start worrying again.” She sensible decided not to go back to that. 🙂

I think I’m getting a little better at Carpe Diem! but I’m still a work in progress.
    😀 I love your t shirt though!

I LOVE that shirt! Ever since Miles Kimball began sending their Christmas dream book — before ‘on-line’ was a thing — I’ve been an enthusiastic catalog shopper.
Despite being a worrier and a ‘what-iffer’, I try to look on the bright side every day. It’s a process …..

That is cute! I haven’t carped yet!

  5. Rose says:

Sometimes I seized and sometimes I have been seized!

Great shirt with a great message. I do try to take the day as it comes unlike the hubby who is much more of a worrier:)

  7. Ann Thompson says:

Love the shirt. It could go either way with me. There are days when the diem has carped me.

  8. sillygirl says:

I carp every day! And I try to remind people to carp, too.

to me carpe deim means seize the day, don’t wait until tomorrow, do it now you might not have the chance to do it in the future. you shouldn’t wait for tomorrow to do something, but do it today. and I always do that.. using it the way it is here i will never be able to do, no way can i not fret about the future.

I think this day seized me. I just found out a blog that Dave and I have spent quite a bit of time developing has already been done to death. Oh, well. It was fun while it lasted. What shall I try to seize next?

What was the topic? I’m glad you had fun working on it, for me that’s the best part. Maybe build on the knowledge you gained and try another topic?

  11. I have my ups and downs on the matter…

Jenny and I carped the diem when we decided to move from London to Belfast. There were problems with the management of our block of flats, and houses in the area were quite unaffordable, so we concluded the time was ripe to move to Belfast and buy our first ever house – for cash. We prospered in all sorts of ways from the move, and it was a diem very successfully carped.
