Where Did It Go?

Where did 2020 go? In spite of challenges it was a good year for me, and it went zipping by…I’ll tell why in a future post.

Not everyone agrees, and Kaitlin sent me this from The City in the Woods email:

Points to Ponder as 2020 draws to a close:

1. The dumbest thing I ever bought was a 2020 planner.

2. 2019: Stay away from negative people. 2020: Stay away from positive people.

3. The world has turned upside down. Old folks are sneaking out of the house & their kids are yelling at them to stay indoors!

4. This morning I saw a neighbor talking to her cat. It was obvious she thought her cat understood her. I came to my house & told my dog…. We had a good laugh.

5. Every few days try your jeans on just to make sure they fit. Pajamas will have you believe all is well in the kingdom.

6. Does anyone know if we can take showers yet or should we just keep washing our hands?

7. I never thought the comment, β€œI wouldn’t touch him/her with a 6-foot pole” would become a national policy, but here we are!

8. I need to practice social-distancing ….from the refrigerator.

9. I hope the weather is good tomorrow for my trip out to the trash bins!

10. Never in a million years could I have imagined I would go into a bank with a mask on and ask for money.

Thank you, Kaitlin!

So goodbye, 2020. I hope we don’t look back at you as part of the good old days.

Happy New Year, everyone!

    Happy New Year!!!

Woos – Lightning, Misty, and Timber and Mom

  5. That’s such a funny list. I laughed out loud at the day planner.

  6. Ginny Hartzler says:

i LOVED this! Thanks for starting my New Year off with so many laughs, that’s the way to go into a new year!

  7. I too agree – a lot there “laughable” but then tinged with “sadness” – thanks Kaitlin for the “list”

I’m in a very lucky country right now, people used to think New Zealand was backward and needed lots of help to stay afloat but now it seems we (the team of 5 million) which is our general population are showing some of the world that it’s doable to eradicate community transmission of the virus.

If any of you have f/b – our leader Jacinda Ardern has her page – and on Dec 26th her Labour party team set her a task. She had similar task last year but this year a bit different – questions that should answer about 2020. Most of it serious but also from point of view of her, mother of Neve and of course our “team leader”

Happy New Year everyone – let’s hope this time next year, “Planners” will be needed…

    • Jean says:

Yes, fingers crossed. It will be an interesting year.

I’m so glad you live in New Zealand and are relatively safe.

    • For everyone else, yes we are a very small country – some assume “one island” but actually there are 2 main islands and quite a few smaller add-ons including the Chatham Island – many people travel between the islands regularly so the “virus” can spread. But it’s currently stopped by border closure and those coming in must go into the “gov’t managed system” and if they test positive somewhere in their stay, go into another managed system until they are better.

  10. Hootin' Anni says:

I love these…now, I never thought I say this, but…number two (2) is my favorite.

    HAPPY New Year Jean.

  11. MadSnapper says:

I love these and they are all true… my favorite is the talking to cat and dog, we carry on convesations with Beau more than with each other. Happy New Year, and Love you too. So happy we found each other. thanks for the laughter this early am.

Wonderful comments. They sum up the peculiarities of the last year so wittily. Very true about old folks sneaking out of the house! And the day’s highlight of a trip to the trash bins!
