I want to call out seven states that have already provided first vaccinations to more than 10 percent of their adult populations: Alaska, West Virginia, New Mexico, Connecticut, North Dakota, Oklahoma, and South Dakota. Well done.

So this morning we went to the website where we had registered for the vaccinations and filled out the health form saying we weren’t sick. Later we drove the short distance to the Senior Center and waited in a line of cars for a few minutes. We were there a bit early, and a lot of other people had the same idea.
The process was well organized, including police directing traffic, people coming by to fill out the paper work while we were in line, and then people giving the shots and watching to see when our fifteen minutes were up so we could leave. (After we received the shots they placed a card on our windshield saying when our time would be up.) The only reason for the wait in line was the limited number of parking spaces at the Senior Center.
It was all very friendly. When I rolled down my window to take a picture of the fire department medical truck someone came by to ask if I needed help. Needless to say, I did not get out of the car to take pictures.
They gave us each a card with today’s date and the Moderna batch number on the front, and the date for our second shot on the back. They also said we would be reminded when it was time for the second shot.
We were gone from home less than an hour, and needless to say we are chuffed.

LOL!
I am chuffed too! it’s wonderful. xoxo

Glad to hear it all went smoothly for you.
Thanks.
Hello Friend! I’m so glad you’ve been able to get your first vaccine. For about the first week, I got daily text messages asking for an update on how I was feeling – After that, it has come weekly. Will you be getting those as well? I’m not quite sure why my co-workers and I are, and I wondered if it was just our county. But my 2nd dose is Weds., which is said to pack a bit more of a punch. I hope not, that’s when my weekend starts! π
So far they haven’t asked, but they did send us messages that they’ve scheduled our second shots for 10:30 February 27.
This is so good to hear…I have heard more good stories than bad. About how smoothly things went.
People in some places are having a lot of trouble, other places are doing it well.
Excellent. Sounds like the procedure was set up nicely!
Yes. π
I’m not even going to try to get the shot and until I get some answers on allergic reactions and so far I can’t find any.
I think that’s wise. We didn’t need it, but I thought it was good that medic truck was there just in case.
That’s great – we are so glad you got jabbed:) We are still waiting, and it isn’t looking like anything will happen next week. We need to convince our health department to do a drive-thru too!!!
Woos – Lightning, Misty, and Timber
Fingers crossed for you. Being able to stay in the car was more convenient for us and probably safer for the people giving the shots.
Yay! It sounds like a win-win for all concerned.
Yes. π
Bravissimo!
π
Wow, this is awesome! Our state is listed as the worst one for giving the vaccines.
That’s too bad! I’m surprised New Mexico is doing so well…but I’m grateful.
Excellent news! Obviously all well organised with the minimum of fuss. I had my first AZ vaccination last week. Northern Ireland is rolling out vaccinations very fast. But I have to remember that even though I’ve been vaccinated, I still have to follow the safety measures, as the vaccine isn’t 100 per cent effective and I could still catch the virus or pass it on to others.
It’s only about 85% effective for us old folks, and that isn’t until after the second shot. I’ll continue with the precautions… they haven’t bothered us that much. We figure every little bit helps, especially because the virus is mutating, as viruses always do.
That certainly went smoothly for you and glad they set up the second appointment.
That was an extra plus. π
We donβt have it here yet.
And Iβd have to see if Iβm able to get it.
But Iβm very rarely around anyone so…
But Iβm super happy you both got it!
xoxo
Thank you! Fingers crossed for you, it’s a real mess.

I’d be chuffed as well
apparently vaccination procedure may change here, in New Zealand…in the meantime I will go about life as I’ve done anyway over this last year…
We don’t plan to change what we’re doing. The vaccine is just another layer of protection. No one layer is virus-proof.
