Our Second Jab

We continue to be impressed by New Mexico. We received a number of reminders this week that we were scheduled for our second Moderna shot today. The also sent us paper work to fill out and bring to the site, plus a reminder that we had to go to the website this morning to fill in the part saying we were free of symptoms.

Last time we had to wait in the car line for about ten minutes before there was a vacant spot for us, but this morning we lucked out and got a spot right away. They took our paper work, gave us our shots, and told us to wait for the fifteen minutes until someone told us it was safe for us to leave.

Here are two pictures of the car next to us being processed:

And here’s picture of the cars waiting as we left. As I said, we were lucky and timed it just right this morning.

So far so good. It’s now been about six hours since I got the shot. I felt a bit tired today and took it easy, and my arm is slightly sore. But so far so good, and it does feel good to have gotten the shot.

  1. That’s good news. We just had our first one this week.

Congratulations! Yes, Tom’s pulmonologist was saying how she has to go onto the website every two weeks and chart any symptoms — even if she has none. I think this data harvest is fascinating!

PS – I saw this morning where another blogger’s doctor advised her to drink lots of Gatorade after her second shot.

WTG! I hope the sore arm is all either of you get….

Andy says his arm feels a bit funny, but he wouldn’t say it hurts. Mine is just a bit sore, but it isn’t interfering with my life.

  4. I wish we would have been able to stay in our cars for my fist shot on Friday. But it was well organized and wasn’t too bad…even thought I did get an entire, 900 word blog out of it for next Wednesday. LOL

🙂 Being able to stay in our cars was great for us, but the parking lot was small and we had to keep our spot until our fifteen minutes was up. Fine for us, but it did slow the workers down.

That’s great for you to have gotten round two. We have two weeks to go for ours. We will be getting Pfizer like the first round. We both had mild headaches and sore arms for a day or two from that one. We hear some people have no trouble with the second and others feel much sicker. Hope we are the former or at the very least somewhere in the middle.

I bet this is a huge weight off your shoulders! I know the first shot was for me, and I can’t wait till the second. Even though I may get sick for a few days, it’s worth it..

Still waiting for my second one. But I’ve just read that a single shot can be more effective than first thought at keeping people virus-free and out of hospital.

    • Jean says:

Every little bit helps. The most important thing is to keep people from getting seriously sick and having to go to the hospital. Good luck on getting your second one. .

so happy to read this, glad you got that vaccine. looks so organized. i am told our is just like this, by a friend who got hers this past Friday, the problem is we have so many waiting it takes time to get an appointment. we have grocery stores, CVS and the lottery, each day i try to get an appt. that is our problem, but once we get it, it works like yours

  9. MadSnapper says:

i just checked your population for the state, almost 2 million in the state, here in our Tampabay area we have 3 times that, just in a 60 mile raidus.. guess that is why, to many people wanting it

Arkansas lowered the age from 70 and older to 65 and older on Tuesday. All of our local pharmacies have huge backlogs already so I went online searching. Thursday morning, Walmart’s online COVID forms updated to show the new age limit, but no appointments were available nearby. However, I found appointments 2 hours away for this coming Thursday.

We need a little bit of a road trip every now and again, anyhow.

Our daughter gets her first shot through her county job on Thursday, too. Once we’re fully inoculated, we’ll be able to do have her over for meals and visits inside after a full year of not seeing her except outside, even though she is only a couple of miles down the road. AND, sometime later this year, we’ll be able to make a trip to see the other daughter, son-in-law, and granddaughter who moved from Wisconsin to the LA area during the pandemic.

Good news!!! Most states should follow N M’s example!

  12. I hope that as you’re reading this, you’re BOTH still symptom free. In our office, there were 2 that were under the weather for a day or two. I love how organized it all seems to be for everyone – A tribute to all those volunteers giving the vaccine!

  13. So glad to hear you had a good experience
