The Importance of Play

Play is the highest form of research.
—Albert Einstein

Amen to that!

As you know, I spent some time playing with my wallpaper because I didn’t like the default for the new Mac operating system. I put my own wallpapers in a folder (in my case I called it wallpaper, but any name will do) and added the folder to my options by clicking the plus sign at the bottom left of the screen:

Then I noticed the check box saying Change picture. Checking that box gave me the options of when and how often to change the wallpaper.

I’m not using it now, but when the mood strikes and it feels like fun, I’ll find other pictures I like and add them to my wallpaper folder. Then I might view them as a slide show.

In the meantime another technical challenge has come up because of the new operating system, so I’m playing around and seeing what the new possibilities are. And the operative word is “play.” A curious mind in a relaxed body is a powerful combination. It sure beats feeling frustrated.

A relaxed body is the clue to enjoy a challenge…not when you are just trying to get something done that needs to be done.

I did get my audio sync problem solved today…I should know by not to unplug everything before I try anything. That seems to solve a lot of issues.

I consciously practice staying relaxed… I figure the practice is more important than solving the problem. That approach pays off handsomely.

  2. I love the slide show feature, but I told you that yesterday. I’m old so forget I said anything. LOL

Love your statement that a curious mind and a relaxed body is a powerful combination. That is so very true.

you already know I am a PLAY Girl.. ha ha… I love to play in computer, it can be what you did here or learning how to use my new AIO desk top, or finding things I did not know were there. when my friend said how do you KNOW all this stuff. the answer was I PLAY, when I got my new phone i played with it for a week, i tapped everything in the phone to see what it did. even doing that i still find hidden things.. play on and share it with us

  5. Yep, relaxation is key. Unfortunately, I’ve been tight as a yo-yo the last 24 hours, trying to secure a vaccine appointment. Best I stay away from printed instructions and sharp objects for a little while … LOL.

    • Jean says:

Good luck! I’ve read that Massachusetts is now letting people preregister instead of chasing openings. That means the state decides the order of people getting vaccinated, but at least it doesn’t waste people’s times. We preregistered here in NM and was surprised how early we got the shots. I was mainly glad we didn’t have to spend much time on it…we would have been happy to wait.

  6. I don’t play at technical online/computer things as I don’t know exactly how to do things or for that matter “fix something that has gone pear shaped or belly up”.
But I do like to play around with my art supplies when I’m up to it…soon I might able to stand/bend without issues with my guts! And yes stuff is calling to me, but I have to be patient…
