Our Trip to the Land

I had a great time yesterday. I checked the gazing ball first, of course, and had no trouble finding it with the binoculars. It wasn’t as vibrant as last time but I could still see it with my naked eye and I had no trouble capturing it with my iPhone. My phone has a 2X zoom. which incredibly, I had never used before. (Duh!) It did make some difference in the photo.

The white stake and the ball are the vertical white line and dot in about the middle of the picture.

(For better resolution click here.)

Finding the ball tickles me and makes me happy…no doubt because my eyes don’t work very well and I used to have trouble seeing it. Do you ever delight in little things, things that other people might not relate to? Does it ever have anything to do with things you have struggled with?

Anyway we also saw two tulips and a potful of daffodils.

And we saw this across our driveway on the drive home.

Tomorrow I’ll show you how Andy handled it. I’m spending a lot of time today trying to get a publishable version of the videos I took. That’s not so much fun because it’s so time consuming, but I’m learning a lot.

Have fun!

  1. I’ve forgotten… is the blue gazing ball on the post your property line?

I’m betting Andy always has a chainsaw with him when he goes up to the land. Can’t wait to see tomorrow’s post about it.

    • Jean says:

Yes, Andy never goes up without a chainsaw. The ball is more a red-purple, and it is on one corner of our property.

  2. Ginny Hartzler says:

You have a long driveway. Did you have to get out of the car and walk? Appreciating good eyesight it not a small thing, it is so important, and a great blessing.

  3. sounds like an adventure in the forest for your trip to the landt

I think the things I find that others don’t is those folk who just have an automatic garage opening device, jump into their car inside the garage and then drive out and away to wherever, and don’t necessarily even know who their neighbour is!

Those same people rarely catch public transport or walk around much…they are so busy making money and working that I worry when they are retired “whatever will they do”…

    • Jean says:

Some people do have trouble with retirement. Andy and I planned ahead on that so it all went smoothly thank goodness.

  4. Rose says:

Yes, there are so many little things that give joy. Like finding flowers in unexpected places. Or the way the sunlight filters through leaves. I had the most beautiful dandelion…it was growing among the rocks that are beside the garage…I could not bring myself to pull it up.

    • Jean says:

I’m with you. I wouldn’t pull it up either. I regard plants that grow among rocks as kindred spirits. 🙂

  5. Ann Thompson says:

Sounds like a nice day. Well except for the tree across the driveway.

  6. tammyj says:

that is one huge tree! even with a chain saw it would be heavy lifting.
another memory to add to your ‘land adventures!’
so glad it didn’t fall on you as you were driving.
    yes. tiny blessings. XO

I had three videos i wanted to post and they were to big of a file, i fought yesterday until I got a headache to make them smaller. they may or may not show up. i could not see the ball/stick and in the HERE version I found it but would not if you had not described what to look for. yes, i get pleasure from little things, and do feel proud I did it.. the first thing that came to mind was making the cell pic of Beau into a portrait with a backround like professionals use. there are many other things but right now the mind is a blank..

  8. Myra Guca says:

Love those happy daffodils … still my favorite color! Not so much that fallen tree. Yikes!
But to your question? Absolutely! Some might not understand, but there are small victories that make my heart smile.

    • Jean says:

We can’t always share our little pleasures/victories with other people, but we can share the fact that we all experience the joy.

I keep telling Andy that my main accomplishment last week was not putting my credit cards through the laundry. I tend to put them in my shirt pocket when I go shopping so I don’t have to bring my backpack (don’t use a purse) into the store with me. Fortunately when I was about to put the shirt in the laundry I checked the pocket. If that isn’t something to celebrate I don’t know what is. 🙂 He understood and has his own tales.

  9. Linda Sand says:

I’m sure Andy handled that tree well but I’m looking forward to seeing how he did it.

  10. Hootin' Anni says:

I always love little pleasures. Newborns. Flowers. Springtime in every aspect. Rain. Many, many things.

Hope you can accomplish getting the video published for us.
