Luxury

If someone asked me what my idea of luxury is, I think my answer would be: flowers in the house all year round.
—May Sarton

For me it’s being able to choose how I spend my time. Andy and I have been lucky that because of our interests and the internet we haven’t been affected much by the pandemic. It’s been a good year.

What’s your idea of luxury?

my idea of luxury is WATER. a hot shower whenever I want one by simply turning the handle!
and a modern clean toilet that flushes!
and my apparent water fixation includes safe cold water to drink from the tap anytime I want it!
I truly do think of all these as happy luxuries in my everyday life. πŸ˜€

Relaxation & having love. One blends with the other.

I really don’t know what I could think of as luxury. I know in winter when the cold wind feels like it is off an iceberg, and is trying to find any crack or open door to come in, I am so thankful to have heat at the flip of a switch…and it always leads me to thinking it is nice to have AC in Summer…nice to have plumbing like Tammy Says.

Right now I would love to have a week or two or three just to ‘be.’

  4. Ann Thompson says:

I think I would have to say being able to spend a day doing whatever I want.

A HOT cup of tea and a tasty scone while spending some quiet time on the deck:)

  6. similar to tammy & Rose on house utilities… but as I sit here and muse on your question, a lot of ideas flood in. I wonder do I already have a “luxury or two” that I need on a daily basis. Lots of “wish I had…” but not necessarily need/want.
So off to my “not so much used” – It Depends…

Years ago I read where Jackie O. insisted on having freshly laundered bedsheets every day … and yearned to have that kind of luxury.
These days? I rejoice in having no alarm clock, no adjenda.

You know, I have to say that my idea of luxury is just being in our home with my husband, and being able to do what we want whenever we want.

I consider my life full of luxury! Coffee at wakeup, HOT showers, heat or ac when needed. those are my daily luxuries. Florida has many homeless people and they do not have the four things I mentioned. and at night when I lay down inside my house on a comfy bed with a roof over me, that is also luxury.
As for a day to do what every I want I do that every single day. the difference is I want to stay home and do what I do… I missed nothing over the year because my life is the same except for one thing… I miss talking to people face to face without a mask

What’s happening with the mask mandates in Florida? I thought the governor wanted to do away with them. I’m glad they’re still required in our grocery stores here.

I did a post about luxury a year ago. I came up with the following luxuries: First class travel on planes and trains. A huge private swimming pool with nobody to collide with. A private beach free of children kicking balls in my direction. Private health care that avoids the horrendous NHS waiting lists (I hasten to add that so far I’ve always been loyal to the NHS).

Things like a hot shower and a flushing toilet don’t seem like luxuries, just everyday amenities that are found in most houses.

I have lots of luxuries in my life but, right now, my favorite one is not having to cook. Picking up food from the on-site restaurant, which is included in our rent, is a true luxury to me. The hardest part is choosing what to get. πŸ™‚

  12. I love that Mark and I can do whatever we want each day. Mark loves to work out in the yard trimming things. I watch some TV and read blogs, besides doing housework. Being retired is wonderful.
