Windy

Andy always sends an email with the time when he leaves the land. He adds “windy” on days like yesterday to tell me he might be late because of trees across the road.

He was late. Coming down our driveway there were two small ones that were easily dealt with, but when he came around a corner there was a big one like the one I videotaped. As he was getting out the Jeep two smaller ones also fell as he watched. He decided he would do the minimum to get out of there as quickly as possible. Other trees were crashing as he worked, but not across the road.

There was one other big tree across the Del Norte Road, which he took care of. He met a La Cueva volunteer fireman coming up after that and told him he would have to make more cuts to get through with his truck, but the fireman decided to come in through the Dome Road instead. He was on his way to help someone who had been blocked by falling trees.

No pandemic boredom here.

on windy days it might be best to ‘wait out the wind in town!’
if it’s like here… we know in advance when the wind is going to blow…
for how fast and how long.
luckily no trees fell on his vehicle!
I must be a little paranoid now after the hail storm.
but you’re right! no Boredom in sight! lol.

That would be kind of scary having trees falling while you’re trying to move one out of the way.

Actually, that sounds terrifying. Does Andy keep a hard-hat at the ready?

Last year we hired a tree company to do some necessary work out back. Despite them being pros, the owner was struck by a major limb and had to go to the hospital. Thankfully, his hard-hat probably saved his life.

  4. wow, that’s a “stay at home day” in my books – but I suppose he’s doing something that for him is a type of “like to do” – me I would rather hunker down at home if I knew.

She, who went out when it was sunny but chilly yesterday morning but by the time she was some bus rides away from home it turned nasty – I didn’t get wet , that happened after I got home – but I was darn cold in the wind corridors. And yes I had on layers – a lady at one stop said “you should have a jacket on” then I showed her the layers at my wrists and the changed her tune

Yes, I went out and about, hardly spoke to a soul – and yes this arvo very short walk near home and again not much of a soul

He could have gone back to the house and stayed there overnight if it have been much worse. But clearly getting home was a lot nicer.

Yikes, that was a dangerous place to be passing through!!

wind would not stop by hubby either… as long as he is safe and nothing falls on him he probably enjoys moving the trees.. glad he got home safely

The situation was a bit scary, which is why he did the minimum to get out of there. Occasionally people around here do get killed by falling trees.
