Not So Lucky With the Weather

Kaitlin, Torben, and the pups had hoped to be home last night after three long days of driving. Instead they didn’t get there until about 2 this afternoon because of all the rain and thunderstorms. Last night she wrote,

More really bad rains today. None that brought the entire freeway to a complete halt like yesterday, but bad enough that we were driving under 50mph and it was harrowing. We ended up taking the longer route through PA to try and avoid the worst of it. Right as we got in front of the storm we had a tornado warning, but are now hunkering in a Comfort Inn while a thunderstorm is blaring outside. A lot of places were fully booked. Our first reservation was at a freaky place. Our room had towels on the floor and empty beer bottles. So we left and are at a different dive. Our room at least appears clean! We have about a 6 hour drive home tomorrow, fingers crossed! It looks like it will be rainy, but hopefully just rain.

When I told her I was sorry they were having so much trouble she wrote,

No worries!!! We are happy and safe!!

She said the pups were amazing,

But it’s clear to me that the pups were amazing because Kaitlin and Torben are. When Kaitlin was little I used to tell her how lucky Andy and I were to have her. That’s even more true today, and Torben is on that list too.

I’m so glad they’re back home safe and sound.
traveling is hard enough even when everything goes well!
today one never seems to Know what weather or conditions they will face.
and … those sweet grand doggies are simply the BEST!
it’s so special that Kaitlin and Torben take them along.
many people would leave them in an impersonal kennel. I’d say Blessed and Lucky all the way round! XOXO

If Kaitlin and Torben went somewhere without the pups they would get a dog sitter rather than a kennel. They are well taken care of.

  2. A nice ending to a harrowing trip – and back home safe where they can hopefully slightly relax before work schedule kicks in…
I expect Zoe and Tempi know all will be well, they are with their humans aka their best guardian buddies

There always seems to be challenges, traveling. Good to be gone for a while, but best to be home again, safe and sound!!

Oh wow, that must have been some ride home. Better to stop for the night than try and drive through it. Glad they finally made it back home safe and sound

i am happy to hear they were smart and stopped and waited. storm driving is dangerous and they were really smart travelers. glad they are safe and you are right, you are blessed to have them and so are their pups

What an ordeal! I’m a white-knuckle driver in those sorts of storms. At least they had one another, and I’m so glad to hear all are safe and sound!
Love what y’all told her when she was a little girl. (And now, of course!)
