Precious Pup

Apparently some pups hate going to the vet, but Tempi isn’t fazed by it…she’s as relaxed and poised as usual.

Because of Covid, yesterday was the first time that Kaitlin (wearing a mask) could go in with her, so the vet asked Kaitlin if there was anything she needed to know.

Kaitlin: Don’t touch her paws, but other than that everything seems normal. Well, if she gives you her paw because she has a burr or a tick then you can help her, but don’t touch them otherwise.

Vet: she is very smart!

Kaitlin: yes, yes she is.

Then Tempi lifted a paw and offered it to the vet.

Kaitlin: Oh. She is right – you may hold her paw if she offers it like that. Good point, Tempi.

Kaitlin wrote:

Tempi then proceeds to be just perfect. Sits when she is supposed to, stands, etc. Just a gem. She is at that age where she still has energy but is old enough to be a sweetheart. Then, after 1/2 of her shots and her blood draw Tempi gets up and walks to a cabinet and stares.

Since neither Kaitlin nor Torben had been with Tempi while she was being examined, Kaitlin didn’t know the usual routine. She guessed Tempi usually got a treat at this point. The vet went over to the cabinet and took out two treats. She gave one to Tempi and put the other in her pocket for later.

Tempi went back to where she was being examined and the visit proceeded. When it was over she got the second treat.

How precious is that?

Not quite perfect, notice the leash. She and Zoe ran off exploring instead of sticking by Torben when he was working outside. They were fine, and Kaitlin and Torben managed to find them, but there are too many places they could have gone. This is the first time that any of K and T’s pups did that, and it’s kind of sad to see them on leashes (very long leashes) when they’re up there. They still seemed happy.

  4. amazing memory Tempi has – and somehow seems to understand a whole conversation between K and the Vet.

Oh my goodness! She is better at the doctor than most children!

Tempi is just one amazing dog and beautiful too.

  7. Dogs are so smart! My Levi was good at the vets too. We once had a blind dog who go shots in her eyes every week and she’d always shake the vets hand afterward.

You know how much I love her from a very long distance. She is so much like our Beau and he does the same thing she does at the vet. He loves the vet and the techs, he also sits in chairs but not on tables. ha ha.. so glad she had a good visit. Beau also offers his paw but only if asked.

What a wonderfully well-behaved dog! Interesting that she doesn’t like her paws being touched – unless she offers them.

  11. What a beautiful picture and what a beautiful girl, and brains to boot – ya just can’t beat that! ?

  12. OMG, that is definitely precious!
