Yum! I remember the time we enjoyed a long weekend in Colorado — my father took me to an ice cream parlor in downtown Denver and introduced me to one of those they called a ‘Black Cow.’

    • Jean says:

That was the original name. It was named after Cow Mountain in Cripple Creek, Colorado by Frank J. Wisner who sold soda water. A full moon was shining on the snow-capped mountain which gave him the idea of putting vanilla ice cream into root bear.

  6. MadSnapper says:

have not had one in years and would love to have one now. I do have watermelon so will join you in eating that. yum

Oh, drat! I missed it. On a lighter note, an A&W is being built within less than a mile of my front door!

  9. I used to love those floats – root beer, not here – but with coke or fanta …. along with Knickerbocker sundaes.
