Poor Pussy Willow!

Apparently Kaitlin’s pussy willow was swarming with caterpillars, so Andy sprayed and killed them. He will be watching to see if they come back.

Here’s picture of the pussy willow taken July 4th:

Kaitlin picked it out and we bought and planted it about forty years ago. It burned down in the fire but quickly revived, so it has great sentimental value. Fingers crossed.

PS I’m back to normal today, as was expected. Just plenty of sleep yesterday and another 9 hours last night. Thanks for the best wishes.

That is something about the caterpillars!!!

this is good news that you feel better today. we are hoping to get the booster soon. I don’t think i have ever seen a pussy willow tree, I am off to see what they look like, this one sure looks healthy to have been through so much

That caterpillar looks downright evil!!!! Hope you got them all eradicated! Sorry you’ve felt bad but good that you got the third shot. I haven’t heard of anyone in my community having the third vaccine but we will definitely get it when possible. And you reminded me we need to get our second shingles shot. Oh how I hate shots!!! Sorry I haven’t commented recently. I have just had the blahs and haven’t done much; haven’t even kept up in my journal. I hope to do better in coming days. Hope you will come back to visit me. I’m going to try to do better with blog posting too!!!

Our local doctor’s clinic gives the shots so I asked our GP when I had my annual physical Monday. She said it was fine as long as we knew it wasn’t officially authorized by the FDA.

We too are happy to hear that it was a one day downer from the vaccine.

Our area is having a problem with army worms. We had never heard of them before but they evidently have decided to invade our neighborhood. So far we haven’t spotted any here. We hope the pussy willow survives.

    • Jean says:

I’m sure the pussy willow will do fine since it survived being completely burned by the fire. I just looked up army worms, they sound horrible. Yuck!

  7. I was concerned but good to hear, you’ve feeling better – and that the rest did you much good. Lately I’ve found my bed to be a huge comfort…

as for the mean caterpillars they look like giants…

I lay down some today too. I didn’t feel sick, but it was pleasant to lie down. Andy took a great picture of that caterpillar.

I’m loving the tree’s back story,! It’s too late for my immediate family, but think this would make a splendid tradition for those with young children.
    Happy you’re feeling better!

It is amazing. My parents also gave me a corner of the garden to plant what I wanted. I may have the details wrong, but I believe Burpees had a one cent packet of seeds I would get – it was a grab bag of left overs and you never knew what would grow. We had some fun surprises from that! Regardless of the details, I loved those experiences.

Happy that you were able to rest and that you are feeling better. Were you able to identify the species of the caterpillar? It looks similar to the caterpillar of the Dryas iulia butterfly, to me; but, I am much less than a little familiar with caterpillars.

Glad to hear you are feeling better.
That’s awesome that this grew back after the fire. It looks amazing
