Quotes Worth Pondering

Every moment is a golden one for him who has the vision to realize it as such.
ā€“–Henry Miller

This quote reminds me of my

What’s the opportunity here?

and

Stay curious and open to life. No matter what happens keep learning and growing.

There were a few glitches installing software on my new Mac mini, but mainly I was pleased at how I could figure them out and also how easily I hooked up the cables even when the ports are different on different machines. I had messed with that enough in the past that I could do it instinctively, without consciously thinking about it. Patience and curiosity pays.

I’m now trying to remember that in helping Andy with his data logger software problem. I’m spending some time playing around on his PC so I can get comfortable where things are in Windows, and we’re now trying to articulate the problem so we can explain it to the software developer.

We’ve also registered with our new internet provider up on the land, and it looks as the new system will be an improvement. We’ll probably go up Saturday afternoon so I can set the WiFi up. Andy can receive and send messages on his Chromebook, but it’s hooked up directly to the modem. Fingers crossed that the WiFi will go relatively smoothly.

Here’s another quote that I may talk more about tomorrow:

There is something magical about beginnings, about the challenges that come with territory not yet conquered, about being the underdog. I think Iā€™d far rather stand at the beginning of something, looking up, rather than at a summit, looking down.
—Jo Malone

Glad you got everything figured out. I wouldn’t have a clue what to do with a mac, I’ve never used one

I was the same way with PCs. I did spend some time playing around with Andy’s the past couple of days. It helped last night when he was solving his problem. It was Windows 10, not the data logging software that was the problem.

  2. Ginny Hartzler says:

I do kind of agree with the Malone comment. YES, I need to remember in all circimstances, ahat is the opportunity!

    • Jean says:

That’s how I got interesting in stress management. Both Andy’s and my divisions were in financial trouble and our obs were threatened. I decided the opportunity was to become an expert in stress management. That was about 30 years ago, and it’s still paying dividends.

I have always admired your technological curiosity and willingness to tackle anything related to it! what a ball you’ll have in this new world as it changes!
‘change’ is the only thing that isn’t going to stop! or even slow down! xoxo

  4. definitely thoughts to ponder – especially since I’m the process of refining 2 parts of my future, neither of which are out of “ponder stage” – and neither has anything to do with “art” – because art is already within me šŸ™‚
    More later…
But know that today there has been no: art or walk. More just pondering although I did run the vacuum over the living room and it’s so wild and windy that the majority of the washing was dry in a flash…no sun, though! And walking would’ve been difficult anyway!!!

  5. MadSnapper says:

it sounds like you do the same thing I do, when new devices or prolbems with what we have come up, slow and poke around until I figure it out. using both apple and windows has to be a real challenge. i have never touched and apple product, but would love to try it… hope the wifi works and is really strong.. sending text is a life saver… or can be…

    • Jean says:

Poking and feeling familiar with a new device is so important. I don’t use my flip cell phone much and yesterday someone wanted to phone me I didn’t know how to answer it. We tried something else, and afterwards I took the time to figure it out. I had pressed “OK” which sent me to preset text messages. I needed to press “send”. It makes sense know that I know the answer and I may remember it if I ever need it again. šŸ™‚

I’m loving that Malone quote! The last time I remember feeling that way was a solo cross-country move with no job, no network … only my little Caraleigh by my side.
Where that bravado went, I’ve no idea. Still, I wonder if it doesn’t still exist somewhere on a much smaller playing field?

  7. Rose says:

I am glad the new internet provider is an improvement. Sometimes, I just have to look at a job as a puzzle…and since I like puzzles it can make them if not fun, then at least not so bad.
