The New Normal?

When I went to the local supermarket around 2 pm this afternoon there were only two checkers. None of the self-serve stations were open. This is what the lines looked like:

A temporary problem or the new normal?

Oh wow, that is crazy. I wonder why they didn’t have any of the self check outs open.

I have not seen lines anywhere at all since the new normal got here. this is crazy and amazing to me… maybe the cashiers all called out on the same day. the crazy thing today was at 6 am the doors to walmart remained locked, finally a man came and pulled the doors open to let us in which set off an alarm, he said I don’t know how to open these doors, this is my 4th day on the job… WM can’t find anyone to work. maybe that is why the lines. how are the people living without working?

Computer problems at the self-checkouts? That’s not a fun looking place to be. But, at least your shelves look well stocked. Here a lot is bare.

I saw these on FB last night! Someone commented, perhaps the self checkouts weren’t operating b/c there was no-one available to supervise them. Kudos to those who showed up to work.

  6. I have no idea about whether our supermarkets are surviving … when this latest lockdown started, heaps of messages on f/b about queues but then there was an app link on “line time to enter” … then things around here started reopening, some of the small strip shops banded together in the largest entity on the block.
But I did note at one point with my online ordering a limit on certain products and last time no limits! Although a lot of things “out of stock”
