Attaching the snow plow is a tedious job. Here are pictures of Andy, Kaitlin, and Torben doing it in October, 2018:
Andy did it by himself yesterday:
The plow weighs 750 pounds. In the shed it needs to be raised four or five inches to fit into the truck mount, and it has to be aligned to within about a quarter of an inch. It took Andy all afternoon to do it.

That is a big job. He did good getting that on by himself. Looks like a tight fit getting it out that door too.
Yes, that door is a bit close. 🙂
Well, those photos brought back lots of memories. We had 9 pickups and 3 dump trucks to hook up with plows this time of year. Andy’s plow looks like it’s the old metal kind like we had instead of the newer plastic. Always wondered how those plastic ones held up.
It is definitely sturdy. 🙂
Wow…what a massive job for one person!! More power to him…high 5 Andy.
I’m impressed too. 🙂
It doesn’t look easy. And I was about to comment that it looks like it would take at least two people. I am amazed! How could any one person lift that kind of weight??
He uses a lever and a jack, then puts pieces of wood under the raised part to keep it up.
That is a huge undertaking. Good job, Andy. But maybe you should try to enlist some help. We sure don’t want you getting hurt. Here’s hoping the snow is ready to fall yet.
Unfortunately they’re not predicting much snow again this winter. It makes driving in easy but we need the moisture.
wow Good Job Well Done Andy – and when I saw the title of your post – I knew it was time for this to be done…
I’m impressed that he can do it. 🙂
Andy is amazing. But isn’t it about time to give it up?
Not quite yet. He figures he can hang in there for a few more years. I will keep you posted.
I am hoping you will not need the plow anytime soon, it is amazing he could get it on by himself, he is a determined man like Bob. Just Do It! is bob’s motto. will it stay on the truck for the rest of winter? ready to roll? or go back in the shed
The truck won’t fit in the shed. It will sit outside in case it’s needed until next spring. Then the plow goes back in the shed.
That looks like such a close fit for his trick to even fit through. I am glad he was able to do it. I bet he was tired when the day was done.
When we had the shed built Andy thought an 8-foot-wide door would give him plenty of room. But the 8 feet was only the opening, it didn’t count the framework. We were lucky the truck fits at all.
Andy is amazing! Does he deserve a cookie!
Oops! That should read, “Doesn’t he …”
Fortunately he gets plenty of treats. 🙂
WOW.
he always amazes me.
you have your very own Marine!
‘see the hill. take the hill!’
and Andy does. he just gets the job done. XOXOXO
He is impressive!
