The Last of the Squash

Andy picked the last of the squash the other night. Five days of no sun for the greenhouse plus four days of no water did the plants in.

It was a great run, we’ll try again next year.

Mostly the squash looked like the ones above, but around Christmas Andy brought home this one.

Have you ever seen a zucchini with that shape?

Well, they ALL look good to me!

No, I have not seen one that shape…it looks like a caveman’s club.

It looks just like my mother’s hot water ‘bottle’ ca. 1959!

  4. When I had a garden and grew them, I would find all kinds of shapes, usually caused by them butting up against a stem or something like the edging. But most of the ones I get now aren’t quite in that league, although sometimes I buy a branded packers called The Odd Bunch, and there are some strange shapes …both vegetables and fruit; possibly the company buys up such oddball shapes./sizes on purpose….

Can’t say that I have seen a zucchini that shape. It’s kind of cute.

  8. No I haven’t seen on shaped that way. I have about 10 packs of zucchini zoodles in the freezer which I need to start using. Never did that before but I hope they work out okay. Nice low carb meal.

Interesting to read what everyone thought that squash resembled. We immediately though bottle of wine, but we chuckled in agreement with the hot water bottle:)
