I’m Not Even Going to Have You Guess…

what this picture is. I didn’t remember myself until I read the caption.

Hole in shed wall eaten by porcupine.
Showing repair with 2″ stuff screwed to cover the hole

Here’s another picture of damage.

Damage to shed door by porcupine.

The shed was a big solid wood one we lovingly built around 1980:

  1. wow porcupine another animal not known in this country – was he/she trying to get in or out!

Never would have thought of a porcupine…we don’t have those around my woods! We do have plenty of squirrels though and they can do havoc if they get in your house. My husband hates them because they have destroyed many a deer feeder. Hope that old porcupine doesn’t return!

  3. Ginny Hartzler says:

Good grief. I did not know porcupines did damage like this. So how did you know it was a porcupine? Wonder if they need to wear down their teeth like rodents? Did it get inside and do any other damage?

  4. Ann Thompson says:

That was one busy porcupine. Love the view from the shed.

  5. MadSnapper says:

i thought it was a giant sized mouse/rat hole. I had no idea porcupines can gnaw like the rodents do. I assume porcupines are rodents after reading this. I have never seen one and hope never to.. your life on the mountain has been on adventure after another…. thanks for sharing them with us. I am learning a lot I did not know

  6. Rose says:

  7. Catalyst says:

That third photo view is simply spectacular. I could totally visualize myself sitting back with a glass of wine and just gazing on creation.
